Not really a Harry out thread, thought it was a good point of discussion - whether the dire performances and the money laid out represent a good return for where we are. If we do go up will it be recalled as fondly as previous promotion? Answer seems no, but maybe a Wembley final may distract from that.

Richard Langley's tweets have been interesting today - more on the 'negative' side than the 'positive':

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 2 hrs
Great win. No momentum. No game plan. Unfortunately other clubs around us do. #QPR

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 2 hrs
I'm not convinced with Simpson at wing back. In fact I was just confused with everything I saw yesterday. No direction. #QPR

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 2 hrs
I couldn't see how we were going to break down WFC. Austin got the goal but never looked like a threat along with Doyle. #QPR

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 2 hrs
Tom Carroll looks technically sound. Nice left foot but will get over run and over powered.Still like a boy. CH should be in there.

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 2 hrs
I have read JB telling us that stats show that we have more possession than most teams. There was a gulf in class between 2 midfields. #QPR

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 2 hrs
Although we played 3-5-2 our midfield was outclassed and outnumbered at times - how to pass and move progressively up the pitch.

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 2 hrs
Although we got a much needed win yesterday, team selection tactics and formation left a lot to be desired. #QPR

RICHARD LANGLEY ‏@LANGERS1979 22 hrs
Making my way to Loftus Road. Watford still have an outside chance of making the play offs. Makes for a competitive game #QPR

Yeah but what does he know, everything was perfect as we got the 3 points. <whistle>

Constantly exaggerating things like that and calling anyone who disagrees with you a 'happy clapper' really does reduce your credibility.
There is such a thing as a balanced argument you know.

Would any of you have him as a player manager? I would.

He's turned down the Man U job ;-)

Joseph Barton ‏@Joey7Barton 9m

I'm not going to apply mainly based on the fact its too early and I have at least 15 years left playing. Ruling myself out early. #manujob

Well, that in itself tells its own story - normal discussion might be about who to play in midfield or RB, but with the constant permutations of personnel around 3-5-2, 4-4-2, 0898 800 freephone double glazing - it could be anyone anywhere spat out of the Redknapp Random Formation Generator. So every discussion tends to revolve about 'Arry.

Also, mate, this is the before - wait until we balls up the play-offs!

Incidentally nice to see the use of "we" here.

We could do with a few more LANGERS in the team right now!

I would be interested to know how many of those that actually attended the game yesterday disagrees with the general thrust of this thread. Despite the win and confirmation of our play-off place we were truly woeful for pretty much the entire game IMO. I just wondered if others saw it differently.

Langley writing such stuff sounds like a sick joke. He pissed his career away with a lackluster attitude yet he's having a go at the current team!

If he was a former player I could respect then fair enough but Richard bloody Langley???

We beat them playing **** for 75 mins, imagine what we could have done with a manager who had us playing good for whole games, we would have walked this league with the resources available.

I was there mate and I'm too busy to do a report, so I'll jot my thoughts down here.

I can see where Harry was coming from going 3-5-2, as he wanted to match Watford's 3-5-2 and keep two forwards, plus Morrison in the side. I wouldn't have done it that way, but I can see why he did it.
The reasons I think that formation didn't work are:
1) Our players, unlike the Watford players, aren't practised in this formation and they looked uncomfortable in it.
2) Morrison, imo, isn't a midfield player, or even a No10, but an out and out 2nd striker who plays just off a main striker. This means that he offers very little off the ball and so yesterday we still had 4 in the middle against their 5. Morrison was in there, but offered little off the ball.
3) Carroll suffered more than anyone as a result of Watford completely swamping us in midfield and he had no time on the ball at all. This meant that he constantly got caught in possession, until late in the game as things got stretched and there was more space. Barton had the same problem and gave the ball away repeatedly, although being stronger helped him over Carroll.
4) Our wing backs didn't know where to go when we were defending, leaving huge spaces for Watford to play into. There was also a lot of space in front of our CBs which they also exploited. We were crying out for a holding midfielder in there and I was sure Harry would bring on Henry as soon as we equalised, but he didn't.

The first 70 minutes were indeed awful and Harry should have gone 4-2-3-1 with Yun at LB and Hill and Ned in the centre imo.

Anyway, the fight back was spirited and thank God for Charlie!! Anyone know if that was just cramp at the end? ****ing hope so!!

Not sure where these @chazaustin9 hamstring rumours came from. But happy to confirm he's fine. It was cramp!

Pretty sure it was just cramp. He was back on the pitch at the end and moving ok.
