    Can you spell "irony"?

    This won't work.
Chelsea will still end up paying for him.

It's a big risk. Any manager that has come to Stamford Bridge since Abramovic has faced a huge task of trying to control the dressing room, let alone winning trophies(which sometimes isn't even enough).

He's only had 2 years in management aswell, hasn't he? Hmmm, what are the odds of him lasting long enough to get to grips with the job?

I don't think that's been denied. Having a release clause is also what moves it away from a tap up. It's entirely up to Villas Boas if he want to leave as long as Chelsea meet the release which I believe has been agreed.

I didn't suggest that he had been tapped up, what would you suggest it is if Chelsea don't agree to match the release clause?
I was under the impression that you had to agree to pay it in principle, before you were allowed to discuss it with the manager anyway, but I could be wrong.

I'm not to sure myself but the OP insinuated without any basis to back it up that there had been some dodgy dealings going on when there is no evidence of this. Frankly this would be the worst tap up ever (except maybe A Cole) so I'm sure it is all above board (or at least what can be proven).

Bit like Modric, we make a bid, player says he wants to leave after bid has been made, bid refused. Yet we are accused of tapping up?? How does that work??

Because that's not what happened, maybe?
I've just explained on your other thread what it looks like to anyone that's not a blind Chelsea fan, if you really want to know.
This thread doesn't need to be derailed with more Modric talk.

What a coincidence that Villas-Boas had £13.2m of his own money to spend to activate his release clause...

Surely it's only a case of Chelsea confirming it will be met. No-one surely thinks Villas-Boas will be meeting this himself?!?

"The Lusa news agency had reported earlier on Tuesday that Villas-Boas would pay the £13.2m himself."

Thank you for confirming that you hadn't actually read the article...

Yeah exactly, not believing this for a second unless his signing on bonus is a tidy 13.2 mill !!
