Would Martinez consider getting him back to help with GK coaching, in my opinion he would work wonders with young Joel.

Apparently he's staying at United at least until the end of the season.
They must be impressed with him, cant see him leaving tbh!
But your right, if so, he'd be great for Joel

Joel needs more that coaching, he needs help from God if he's to become a top keeper imo.

    As let's be right, he's a bit ****e.

Howard's had his best ever season imo, so I wouldn't change it anyway

You would have said the same about DDG at United, but look how he has improved this season. Coming out and catching the ball!

It is a confidence thing with Joel I feel and he could be a great player, he was highly rated and did well in last years Wigan cup run. But that is just my opinion and would be just as happy to see Springthorpe promoted

Joel always looks a bit 'slow motion' to me.

I had hoped that he'd provide some genuine competition for Howard, but for me he's not quite good enough, albeit Howard might not see it that way, given his form has improved quite sharply imo.

    Totally agree!

I was expecting him to take over from Howard within a year or two but now that Howard has signed a new contract and performed incredibly this season, i cant see him getting a look in for a while. For a young keeper he needs to be playing more often rather than just in cup matches. He gained a lot of experience last season playing week in week out for Wigan. Can see him maybe needing to go on loan soon and us bringing in a backup keeper that doesnt mind sitting on the bench so that he can develop. Will give us a better idea of whether he is our successor to Howard long term too.

What happens in training and on the pitch is different. he could be a fantastic trainer and just let nerves get the better of him. Howard was prone to the odd clanger in his early days (United and Everton) but look at him now! He is on a par with Big Nige imo

De Gea was one of the best keepers in the league last year though?

Whereas Howard has been dropping clangers too often for a few season now yet once all the changes have come in, he's had his best ever season.
