Maybe Jock Stein never let his son go on trips or visit Torbett in his home, therefore Torbett never had the opportunity to try to abuse Jock Stein's son..? Maybe Torbett was smart enough not to try anything with Jock Stein's son because to do so would put himself at too great a risk of exposure..?
But you yourself claimed he probably suspected. And who did he take these suspicions up with, Torbett, the Board, the Police......WHO????? No, he appointed Fank Cairney as a trusted lieutenant and he turned out to be yet another child abuser.
As already pointed out to you, how would the victims know that Jock Stein knew..? There is plenty of documented evidence that people who groom children are very clever and manipulative and often convince their victims that it should be kept a secret and even that it is the victims fault. It would be a very unsuccessful *****phile who got caught at the first hurdle - the victim's parents.. But I guess you already know all that but are just being obtuse. I've yet to hear a reason why Birt should be regarded as an unreliable witness whilst a *****phile and his 2 mates are somehow more trustworthy - only in the land of Timmy eh..? Here's a question for you - Why would Birt say that Jock Stein personally threw Torbett out of Parkhead if Jock Stein didn't tell him that..? WHY..??
I'll answer this, as it seems to have been asked a few times by other posters too. I haven't seen any suggestion by Rangers supporters or anyone else that Jock Stein knew about the abuse and either turned a blind eye to it or let it carry on. I think as soon as he found out about it he booted Torbett out the door. I don't think there's any question of that. The point is, you don't just boot a ***** out the door. You call the Police and have him arrested, investigated and - if there is enough evidence - charged and hopefully convicted. What you don't do is just send him away with a flea in his ear FFS..
Im trying to look at this in both angles, Is it fact BJ kicked Torbett out the door or is it just 'hearsay'? If fact could their be another reason for it?

Look, simply put this was a different time and things were different back then,I certainly did not hear the word *****phile being in common usage, anyone of my age will confirm that. In my local baths there was a guy called Les who friends warned me to avoid, so I did. he was overly "Pally" with some young lads. We did not know he was a *****phile, hardly anyone knew what that meant. As far as me and my pals were concerned he was a "Bender" in that he liked boys and/or men, we did not know for sure but we suspected he was an abuser. When my sister was abused in about 1972 it was by the father of one of her pals. No one went to the Police but my dad knocked seven bells out of him. If he abused other girls , were we at fault for not reporting it? It would have been the word of a child against that of an adult. Had Jock Stein "known" he would have probably still done the same thing and booted Torbett out of CBC beacuse you simply cannot expect people in a different age to attach the same laws and systems which are commonplace now. Jock Stein did what everyone else would have done at that time that's the reason we have so many child abuse cases coming to court now that happened in the 50s, 60s and 70s it is because people simply did not go to the police to report horrible acts such as Torbett committed, there was a conspiracy of silence in every place it happened. People of the 21st century are exposed to all sorts of experiences and knowledge about child abusers, in the media an elsewhere, we have a clear understanding of the way there reprobates operate, Jock Stein did not. What he knew about child abuse you could probably have written on the back of a stamp, same as any man of his years.
That's correct as far as I know.. The only variation I have ever heard apart from 'Big Jock Knew' is "and Celtic too" as a last line.
