The mancs board think he's gone and are touting all the European top managers as ready to walk in to the job.
    Klopp, simione, Van Gaal.
Think they are a bit delusional to think any of them would go there at the moment. Well maybe Van Gaal but don't rate him highly anyway. By the looks of simione he would likely as not bite Maureen's head off if he upset him ...so he would be ok.

It might go the opposite way though - whoever comes in next is not replacing fergie and cannot do worse than what moyes has produced.

Will get paid a bucket load as well don't forget

It's nailed on for Darren Ferguson taking instructions from his old man!

He'll be bringing in Barry Fry as the new Director of Football! <laugh>

Yes but Klopp and simione are under contract and neither club would want them to leave...so big compensation packages would have to be taken into account.

Rumour are already that Klopp is ear marked to take over at Barca in the summer. Think Simeone will want to stay with A.Madrid to see if he can repeat his success.

That would make sense for Klopp...good fit I think with barca! Hope he doesn't go to manure because I quite like him.

Don't see why Klopp would join a side where he wouldn't be able to sign any players for at least a year to change the squad.

I have a feeling as long as his key players stay at Dortmund he'll have another crack at the CL with them next season.

Lewandowski is leaving for free, so can't even reinvest any of that money. That's one key player gone. Unfortunately for Dortmund, their best players will always be picked up by others and when they are going to your nearest rival, as a manager I'd start to get slightly pissed about that. How are you meant to get close to challenging them when they just buy your best players?

Barca will no doubt get the transfer embargo removed or suspended with a view to imposing a longer one if they break the rules again so don't see that being a reason not to go.

I sense a rise in fear levels lads.

Do you seriously think we wouldnt have a pick of managers? One of the worlds highest salary packets and of course the chance to correct the mistakes of the forgotten one. Some are unnatainable without breaking records in terms of money but no manager is impossible to get. Not since Fergie retired is their any manager who wouldnt leave his job ( not just too United, its football, its what happens. )

Possibly IBWT, but IMO of the players they've lost Gotze was the only one that really weakened them as Henrikh hasn't really managed to fill his shoes. Kagawa for Reus & Sahin for Gundogan seemed to work out well for them.

They've already replaced Lewandowski with Adrian Ramos. Ramos has 16 goals and 5 assists in 29 games. Lewandowski has 18 goals & 6 assists in 30 games so their records are pretty much identical. And that's with Ramos in a much weaker team, he's contributed to over half of his teams goals. Wouldn't be surprised if he outscored Lewandowski next season to be honest (if Dortmund keep Klopp and their team together)

I don't think its really a case of money, as no matter which top team you manage you'll end up being rich anyway, after earning so much it becomes an irrelevance. It depends how much control your board are willing to give to the new manager I think. Maybe someone like Klopp would want to change the way the academy is run or would want full control over the transfers and no interference from the board. Would they agree to that? Would they be able to trust a manager to that extent after the Moyes debacle where they gave him the freedom to change the whole backroom staff and he made a mess of things?

True, and I'm not saying they haven't been able to replace the players they've lost but if you were Klopp and lost 1 top quality player each summer and had the pressure of having to replace them with equal quality (while your rivals are also getting stronger) surely there has to be a limit as to how many times you can do it without getting fed up?

Once or twice, fine you take it on the chin and admit that Bayern have the financial power to do it, but if it continues I'd be saying to the board, keep the players or I'm off.

A chance to restore United to former glories, with the promise to a load of cash to invest in your team. It's a tempting offer to be fair...

Definitely agree with that, but I don't think he'll be that bothered losing just Lewandowski as he's known its been coming for at least a season. I reckon if Reus, Gundogan, Hummels or Subotic go he might change his mind.

Also the United job is a tempting one for almost any manager. Massive transfer budget and the fact that the only way they can realistically go is up in the league. It would take someone with a strong sense of loyalty or a really good team to turn them down.

Attention has quickly turned to who will replace the Scot when he goes, with one particular name likely to excite Manchester United fans more than any other - that of his predecessor - Sir Alex Ferguson.

The most successful manager in British football called time on his spell in charge at Old Trafford last summer after 26 years at the club. During that time he won 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups, four League Cups and two Champions League trophies.

HOW MOYES PAID FOR FAILURE IN THE TRANSFER MARKET

    So could he return?

Bizarrely, it would not be an unprecedented move at Manchester United.

Sir Matt Busby, the only other manager to deliver the European Cup to Old Trafford, also returned for a second stint after his successor failed to follow in his footsteps.

Busby stood down after winning five league titles and two FA Cups, as well as that European Cup won at Wembley in 1968. Wilf McGuinness was promoted from reserve team manager to replace him but lasted just 18 months. His sacking saw Busby return for a six month spell to see out the 1970/71 season.

In another coincidence, just like Ferguson, Busby became a director at Manchester United following his managerial retirement.

While Ferguson has been a regular at United's games this season, following his retirement he was unequivocal about not returning to the dugout.

"I'm not interested in managing again or getting myself worked up about Manchester United's results," he said in October last year.

"United are in good hands with David Moyes. He will be fine. He's a good manager.

"You would be throwing your money down the drain if you put any money on me coming back as a manager.

"I made my decision. The timing was perfect. There is no way back for me now. I've got a new life.

"I want to go the Kentucky Derby and the US Masters, the Melbourne Cup. I want to visit vineyards in Tuscany and France."

As well as all those things, it was recently announced that the 72-year-old was taking up a 'long-term teaching position' at Harvard, starting next month.
