They announced Fergusons departure to the NYSE as I think you'll find that changing the manager would qualify as 'significant' news regarding the business.
They can't even talk about Moyes being sacked without having an ABL #meltdown
Did they also have to announce that they intended to spunk £27.5m on Fellaini and £37m on a bench warmer?
my opinon is the decision has been taken and just lik we heard about ferguson going this has leaked.... i'm predicting giggs caretaker manager. get you money on now.
There is a big difference between sacking Moyes and the Ferguson retirement. The world and his dog is expecting some news out of the toilet regarding their managerial situation either now or at the end of the season. Hence it would considered as a non-vital piece of information - interesting but not significant.
In the UK, you would have to announce it, and probably in the US too, but you don't have to tell them first. You just have to do it asap. If they do sack him, it will be held over until the morning, so that they can inform the Stock Exchange at the same time. Telling them first opens it up to insider trading.
There's no difference whatsoever, as they both held the same post and a change of manager is 'significant news'.
All right then! So wait until the bell rings, do the deed and inform them at opening tomorrow. But tell the world anyway.
I guess we'll see. It's promising that despite the news being everywhere no announcement has been made yet. There is still hope that Moyes will live to see another season.
But what deed is Tobes talking about to be done by insiders before the event goes public? Sell? Buy? When Fergie went, the stock fell in the ensuing weeks and months. What's the stock expected to do with Moyes sacking? Go up? Really? If so, it will be only be unsubstantial and lasting only a short time imo. If anything, volatility (up or down) will increase.
Stock price certainly will change if Moyes goes... probably on the up. So someone buying today would have a profit selling tomorrow if Moyes were sacked (presumably). Same could be said if they signed Ronaldo back though... but they don't announce players for the stock exchange. I think announcing a manager could be a cover the arse move- not necessarily required.
Exactly. Volatility, no real direction. Some will buy hoping that more will want to follow the trend. Speculation. No substantial financial reason behind it. I may have to agree with Dave on this one. Signing Ronaldo is no clear financial reason for buying either. Consider the 100mill pounds spent on that grease-monkey...
He's blaming Moyes for Fergie picking him He "sweet talked Fergie into giving him the job" he also thinks sacking Moyes on the day the PL is won if we won it would mean all the news would be Moyes getting sacked, we'll have known for months by that stage if he is getting sacked, hardly news. #totalmeltdown
"They expected a down-turn of sorts no matter who took over from Sir Alex Ferguson, but to second or third, not to seventh." FFS so Moyes is blamed because of the Glazers' #deluded expectations?
If we won the title and they sacked Moyes on the same day, don't think any of us would really care. Doesn't bother to me what other fans think and are talking about.
