I bought a Toshiba Satellite laptop a couple of months ago and never had any problems until today. I turned it on and got this. Recovery Your PC needs to be repaired The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information. File:\ BCD Error code 0xc0000034 You'll need to use the recovery tools on your media. If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contract your system administrator or PC manufacturer. I didn't get any recovery disk. Anyone know what I can do?
A few years ago I bought a Toshiba laptop - it was meant to be the dogs bollocks and all it was was bollocks. Complete waste of money. I've been told to buy the cheapest of the most up to date laptops because in a couple of years time the next generation are out - buy the cheapest and repeat until you die/cannot physically use a laptop anymore
If it's new, it's under warranty. Return it for fixing/refund. If you bought it on a credit card and you run into difficulties with returning it/getting satisfaction, contact your card supplier (as your transaction is insured through them).
I would guess this is windows 8 ? If so F8 etc will not work due to the different way the OS boots up. The only way around it is to find another machine with windows 8 on it and then create a recovery USB stick from it to use on your own machine. more info including a step by step guide can be found here: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5132-recovery-drive-create-usb-flash-drive-windows-8-a.html http://www.cnet.com/uk/how-to/how-to-create-a-windows-8-usb-recovery-drive/ Hope that helps. I do have a recovery USB for windows 8 somewhere around in my office from a job I did for someone. If you are having trouble and you don't have many pictures etc on the laptop I would recommend taking it back and getting them to swap it out or refund it.
I'd still take it to where you got it from, assuming you bought it. You shouldn't be experiencing boot up problems in the first couple of months.
As mentioned by **** ,whilst it may not have worked in your case , it's worth making a recovery usb for a new pc.This was the first recommendation by the manufacturer for a new laptop for my daughter.
