You post a link that you already knew doesn't support your claim, but you reckon my argument against the existence of this fantasy world of yours is desperate? You're priceless.
Meanwhile back in the real world, 6116 references in one newspaper ALONE to the word Humberside before 1950 trump your 'opinion' that no one used it.
They're pretty much references to one or two people, not separate references, so it doesn't support your claim that it was in frequent use.
Well it was mid 1974 when the county 'officially existed'. Before then as stated numerous times on this thread it had existed as an alternate name to East Yorkshire, the East Riding, the area around the Humber Estuary.
http://www.britishnewspaperarchive....ewspapertitle=hull daily mail&sortorder=score You should look at 1919. An article about 'Humberside Airport' and the 'Humberside Derby' against Grimsby Town. Interesting stuff.
"OUR HUMBERSIDE HERITAGE “... OUR HUMBERSIDE HERITAGE. Glljà FRIDAY, JANUARY 17th, The Population of Hull is 291,118 many amd various kiada of new works and industries are encouraged to come Hull ... ” First match of your search in this article. Friday 17 January 1919 ," And so it goes.
Not according to the links you've posted. We're linked to the other Ridings. Don't fear it, embrace your heritage.
*Isn't the internet working properly in your house today? We're part of Yorkshire, the East Riding, East Yorkshire and Humberside. Now....about Haltemprice.......does that exist in your 'world'?
Do you think if you keep saying it,it will magically become true? You've the whole resources of the www at your fingertips, and the scarcity of results from your search seems to show it wasn't used much in the past and doesn't exist in the present.
Pretty much so. I invented those 6116 links and all those pre 1974 mentions. Now about Haltemprice.......does it exist or is it just another trick by those nasty men?
Are you having some sort of break down? Your 6000 links, are effectively, the same few links several times. It was a Barton rag man and a HDM heading for an article. I didn't say it was never used, I said it wasn't used much, which your searches seem to show to be the case. It's a ridiculous question,of course Haltemprice exists, it's Humberside that doesn't.
What a ****ing pointless argument. Most right thinking people in this area find the term Humberside offensive, due to it being a county inflicted upon us by a bunch of ****s from Westminster. They will always find it offensive, it is not used as a term locally for that reason and no article from 1888 is ever going to change that.
