How many of the so called elite players will get selected to go to Brazil that aren't good enough but will get picked because who they play for? My guess will be 8.

Fraser Forster, Chris Smalling, James Milner, Frank Lampard, Jack Wilshire,
Tom Cleverly, Michael Carrick, Danny Welbeck.

I say that Forster, Lampard, Wilshere and Carrick should go. They are good players and have played well at international level before so will be of great use, especially Lampard who can score, sit deep in midfield also be a very good captain.

Wilshere has already shown his worth, as has Carrick, both being good passers of the ball and players that lock down the midfield relatively well.

Cleverly and Smalling definitely don't deserve to go, I was fuming to see Roy had called them both up into the squad in the last few friendlies due to them only playing for Man U!!

:emoticon-0116-evilg I'd leave Rooney at home............he never performs on the big stage

As for Smalling and Cleverley ... not good enough but I bet they will be selected!

The question really is do we have any world class players to take.

No Jowler we don't, but I wouldn't pick/take someone just because who they play for when they clearly arnt good enough and show it on a regular basis. Might as well take untried players as take ones that you know won't perform

I'd take Milner, Wilshire and Carrick, and possibly Lampard. None of the others you mentioned though. I've never rated Cleverly or Smalling, and I'm dissapointed Welbeck hasn't really pushed on, I had high hopes for him, same goes for Phil Jones, although I'd prefer him at RB over Johnson.

Welbeck is not as good as he thinks he is.

Gareth Barry has impressed me this season (OK, its only on from the TV), seems to me he makes Everton tick along, I know he is 30 odd, but you are not building for the future in a World Cup, that's what the intervening 4 years are for and something England have repeatedly failed to do

For some reason I couldn't care less, I honestly think that the England set-up from top to bottom has alienated itself from the supporters:

Team selection...choose from elite teams only.
Players more concerned about club and pay packets.
    Meaningless friendlies.
Rip off shirt prices...etc etc etc.

    Enough is enough
