You seriously think that was a red? Ref didn't have the best of games today, although we paid the price for a poor start. Skrtel should of given a pen away for grabbing a fistful of Turner's shirt.
Have to agree with you there tipsy ref was bad, though snodgrass was lucky to not get a second yellow for pushing flanagan into the hoardings, and then the ref gave flanagan a card. Shocker!
Can't actually remember that (selective memory or I had my head in hands) but take your word for it. But yes some poor decisions with cards handed out almost randomly. Can't wait until the day diving and feigning injury is stamped out of football.
Snodgrass was a bit thick there jwm, im sure the ref was going go back and give stevie g i think a yellow for an earlier tackle, but then he flew in and that was forgotton about.
Can't say I say it as a two footed lunge (not that there is anything in the rules to say that its a sending off). I thought he went in one footed then his other leg came through after. Maybe I'll have to watch it again. There were some comical ones like when Snodgrass got wiped out on the edge of their box towards the end, or Howson taken out on the edge of their box. Anyway history now.
Might of been that Mariner took account for the fact that Flanagan had lunged in on him about 20 seconds before.
Flan had put in a really cruncher just a few seconds earlier. He got the ball but it could hsve been dangerous. Think Snoddy got too hyped up by it. The really stand out moment was Snodgrass getting completely wiped out by Cissokho and getting nothing for it. That was unbelievable!
Anyone at the game willing to share some player ratings, in their view? Would be interesting to here From listening i picked up on Whittaker, Redmond and snoddy being the best in an attacking sense
Ruddy - 7 Didn't have much chance with the goals, especially as 2 were deflected. Made 2 oustanding saves at the death. Olsson - 8 Supported the attack brilliantly and actually seemed to me more dangerous in an attacking sense than Redmond. Martin - 6 Got drawn out of position a bit too easily for Pool's 3rd but can't really blame him for the goals. Turner - 7 I really like Turner. He comes out and cuts things out before they get a chance to develop and he had a great handle on Suarez for most of the game. Whits - 8 Brilliant performances from him. Attacking intent dropped off towards the end but he barely put a foot wrong and supported the attack just as well as Olsson. Johnson - 6 Would have been a 7 but his slack pass gave Liverpool the winning goal. Played some lovely passes though and broke up Liverpool's rhythm brilliantly. Fer - 6 Started really poorly and didn't have enough presence in the midfield. Picked up as the team improved but never really stamped himself on the game. Howson - 7 Looks like a different player when played behind the striker. Chases everything, never let Liverpool's defence or midfield have a moments rest with some good moments of quality. Snoddy 8 - He may not be everyone's cup of tea and he can be very frustrating but he has the passion and drive that can carry our team, which we needed when we went 2 down. Had a hand in most of the good attacking play and bagged another goal. Redmond - 6 Started alongside Hooper but soon dropped back to the wing. Ran at the defence a lot but still holds on to the ball too long. Several chances to play the ball into the likes of Snodgrass and Howson when they ran into the box but cut inside instead. Provides an outlet but has to find a final ball. Hooper - 7 Kept the Red's defence honest and did a lot of good hold up play. Also has an innate ability to take his first touch into space. good reactions for his goal and does the nitty grit stuff much better than many give him credit for. Hope that helps Max.
I don't think Fer is fully fit hopefully he'll improve. Also thought Hooper came too deep in the first half meaning there was no one to take chances. His passing is also pretty weak.
I thought Brad had a great game, one slack pass aside he was every where, have the defence good cover and always looked to get the ball forward. He did his damnedest to get back for his short pass and was very unlucky with the deflection.
Personally I thought every player on the pitch had a very good game, there were a few occasions where suarez was left unmarked but I can't criticise the effort and passion that was on that pitch. For the first time in ages the players looked like they believed even after going 2 down they just got on with it and if that game had lasted longer there was only one team that was going to score. It's the first match I've seen this season where I've thought, **** me these players believe!
