Hughton was so unpopular with a large section of fans his position was untenable. I actually rate him as a manager and am confident he would have kept us up but after the ugly scenes upon full time against Brom it was clear to me that he would not be in charge of us in the long term although I was surprised to see him dismissed at the particular time.
I thought it was a crazy gamble to start with, but he'd lost the dressing room the players didn't have any bottle.
I would love to know how many teams at or around the bottom have done the double over us or where we have taken only a point from 2 encounters. Villa and Fulham spring to mind. The writing was on the wall at Xmas.
It is refreshing to see some attacking intent and drive from the players, despite a terrible first 20 minutes or so. The players do seem to be enjoying playing under Adams but we do seem to struggle to convert for middle 3rd play into chances although we have had more. I believe RvW has not had about as many shots under Adams as he had under Hughton, and only a couple of good saves has kept him out, thats what we need to develop and that was where Hughton seemed to have us stalled.
We've improved, at least attacking wise, immeasurably under Adams. Bright times are hopefully ahead, we've just got to see these next three games out.
The issue we have is that our defence is pretty makeshift at the moment, would like to see Yobo back in next week but I'm not sure thats possible.
