I know because of the wording, it was a dig at people chucking their two penneth in, when they are not even at the game. I know how Warky thinks, anyone dare criticise MM and Warky wades in!! He explained he was having a bad day and that he was wrong, fair enough and good on him but dont make it out to be our misunderstanding ffs!!
I'm not here to defend anyone as you said he did apologise for his comment but as I said I still think it was misread which he confirmed but couldn't be done with trying to debate that fact, I just thought I'd share my opinion on it.
Come on boys let's move on it was a silly comment and I didn't mean it the way it came out and I apologised quickly afterwards! Nothing more to be made of it!
Hard to disagree about needing to build a team, but there is never a perfect time to go up. I also think that which ever league we are in next season the summer priorities will be the same. Natural RB An attacking midfielder in the Williams mould An effective winger. It would be the quality of the targets that would be the major difference. With quality additions in those positions we wouldn't have a premier league quality squad, but on paper alone, we don't currently have a squad that should be pushing the play-offs.
True, although I'd argue we have a decent natural RB in Hewitt, he just needs games and to be given a chance. Again Taylor, Wordsworth and McGoldrick can play in the Williams role for me priorities would be: Goalkeeper, a creative/dominant CM, 2 good wingers and at least 1 striker dependant if SEB stays. To be fair apart from the odd exception alot it wouldn't be surprising to see alot of our players in playing in League 1
I wouldn't be looking too hard for a new goalie, especially if we stay in the championship. Gerken is far from perfect, but its hard to predict goalkeepers, I would never have said predicted Simon Mignolet winning a premier league medal. As long the back four trust him then I'm happy to stick with Gerken as our number one. Searching for a new goalkeeper depends on Loach sticking around or not. Being honest, I forgot about Hewitt, but I'm also aware of the fact many managers see him as a creative midfielder. Maybe he could be a replacement for Williams when he goes back to palace? Which still leaves us needing a natural RB.
To me it's much the same as it is for Cresswell, to me he looks like he's got everything you want for a modern day fullback so play him there, although I thought that about Bale aswell.... Wingers are the biggest priority I think
A right back would be my priority plus breaking the bank to sign Jonny Williams from Palace and Assobomalonga from Posh.
Going back to the original thread I have just about had enough of Skuse. I was never a great fan but he has been rubbish since coming back from injury, two of our best results in the games he missed. He was badly at fault for all three goals today imo, watched their player run past him to score the first goal with no challenge, started to run in with the second goalscorer then stopped and failed to get a challenge in on the runner for the third. Be interesting to see if Micks rose tinted specs allowed him to see the same. Also big Frank's awful first touch led to the first goal and despite the occasional good thing from him he just isn't a championship footballer.
anglian absolutely spot on!!! ptc What i saw of Gerken yesterday i thought he was useless, he is soooo slow off his line, if he comes off it at all. I thought he looked a poor GK and agree we need a replacement!! did anyone see Micks comments about our forwards, he thought they were fantastic, i am bemused to say the least!!
I too can be 'fantastic', but will never make Prem material! In short, we all agfee ghat it's a bit too soon for js, and few of present squad would survive the prem. Lets just sit back...go to PR if you can, for Cherries last fling...and enjoy this remarkable unexpected Run-in for season 2013/14. A season when everyone got back respect for ITFC.
TBF to MM he has not made a habit of slating his players in public. I am sure the quotes he gave the press are probably a pale comparison to what gets said to the players behind closed doors.!
I think the criticism that Skuse is getting is a little unjustified when you consider that he was getting the plaudits for his consistently decent displays earlier in the campaign! All players experience a drop off in form from time to time and instead of everyone giving him a hard time surely it's better that we support him? We've got a tight knit group of players without the room for passengers and he will be made aware that he needs to get back into the form he showed throughout most of the season so far!
As i've said before on here we all support our players and manager (well most of us do) I'm sure but if we didn't critique players we may aswell pack this forum up and be done with it. As I've said I think Skuse is our most talented midfielder but for me he needs a rocket up his backside, he like Mick will never fulfill his potential because he doesn't go out of his comfort zone enough and is content to sit back and 'do a job'. Even when he was showing good form at the start of the season I felt he just caused the midfield to be unbalanced particularly in a 442 because he just sits. We looked far more balanced with Hyam and Wordsworth in the centre.
Very true, his man management is usually spot on and rarely criticises players in public, although I do think he has treated certain players who aren't his cup of tea unfairly particularly when players who've been out of favour put in a MOM display and then the next game are out of the team. And Micks perspective on how a player plays IMO seems to be first and foremost how they did without the ball rather than judging them on what they did with the ball. It seems he expects them to be good out of posession first and foremost and if they do something good with the ball that's a bonus
