Not a wind up but, dont be silly. If you could swap places with us right now you would and I know I wouldnt swap to be in your position so no way do you have an equal chance. I am not nieve either, any of the top three can still win the title but at this point it is not an 'equal' chance.
To be honest I'd rather we lost it against Sunderland than at Anfield, with our Atletico trips either side. Expecting Liverpool to batter Norwich now but still got faith that the side that another side fighting to stay in the division can grab another vital away win.
we needed to put pressure on them with a win to give them squeaky bum. Been a great season seeing as we've had no strikers. Hope we can put a good show in v Athletico, get as many points as possible and get second spot
Dont worry, I am sure Mourinho and Chelsea will buy another striker for tens of milllions of pounds again for next season.
I don't get this argument. You have Eto'o Torres and Ba, most teams would love those three in their team. The fact of the matter is Jose hasn't managed your strikers well this season, you have them there but just haven't utilised them properly. Maybe set up too defensivey to get the best out of them? I don't know, but I'm certain if any of those three played for City or Liverpool they would have scored plenty.
Its pretty simple really. torres was a very poor buy and has sacked 3 managers with his poor form, eto'o is old his legs have gone (he's scored 14 in all competitions which is decent but not good enough if you want to win the league) Ba hasn't really had a go, but he lacks technical ability to play with our 3 behind. If you look at the past 5 premier league winners and compare our strikeforce to theirs, you'll understand why we have struggled this season. We have a poor strike force that between them have managed less than 30 goals in the prem, that kind of form wont win the league, as we've seen this year.
Bollocks, total bollocks. Compare our three to the likes of RVP, Rooney, Aguero, Suarez, Sturridge, Jovetic, Dzeko, Negredo, Hernandez.
True that they are better strikers. But I'm certain that Jose could get A LOT more from your 3. I honestly think it's the way he sets the team up. Arsenal would definately swap strikers with you I still believe if your 3 strikers played for City or Liverpool, they would be banging in the goals - which brings me back to poor management by Jose around the strikers.
Fair points. But when you have a manager that sometimes doesn't even play a striker or chooses a midfielder to play up front - that for me is poor management. Your strikers have lacked confidence all season for various reasons, but if Jose decided who he preffered out the 3 and stuck with that, I think you'd have a lot more goals. To be honest the best thing you can do is get Lukaku back and paly him as your number 9. But with the liklihood of Costa joining for however many millions he'll in a way be forced to play him. Costa and Lukaku would be formiddalbe - and suit each other perfectly. Maybe Jose may follow suit of what Rodgers has done and play 2 up front next season?
Can't agree totally with you Jimmy, I think the way Jose makes our team play has meant the strikers we have don't suit us. I agree with the thought that in other teams they would score more and Sturridge is the perfect example. Jose also had the option of Lukaku and decided against him. Jose had the hard decision, adapt his style to the players we had, or employ his style and make the best of it. He chose the second and we have to live with that. Our inability to break down lower teams is a midfield problem and lack of flair from our defence, not just strikers in my humble opinion.
Its an age old problem and one which is simple our play doesn't extend wide enough nor is fast enough to get beyond the last defender where the damage can be done. Most things these days are coming through the middle and subsequently makes us too narrow. The strikers we have would be adequate if we played like we did when we had the likes of Robben, Duff & Gronkier.
Can't agree totally. We get the ball wide enough plenty of the time it's just that it's usually to Ivanovic who can't cross for ****.
Yes they get wide at times but not at pace nor often enough, Defenders like to defend with their backs to the goal. Pinging in balls at pace behind them changes everything it classic coaching.
Moses initial few mins for pool, definitely gave Sterling kick up his backside. From then on Moses hasn't got a sniff and Sterling is tremendous. Guess Josh for Wigan has played more minutes against premier league teams from Jan than Moses. We need to revisit of our loan system.
Its the pace at which we attack which is the problem. Fatigue, the players we have and also tactics contribute. When you have willian breaking out of defence and passing it to oscar waiting for space to open up outside the box, its easy to play against. And thats where the striker comes in because more often than not the channels he should be running into to i) become available or ii) drag defenders away arent being accessed. Its not just about putting the ball into the net, which is why eto'o plays more than torres, because at least he tries to put himself in those positions. How many times this season have balls been fizzed into the box and a striker is outside the area, or chilling on the left wing? Its a joke! We create plenty, and when we get a striker in with i) pace, ii) real link up play and iii) awareness we'll be banging them in have no worries about that guys.
Chelsea fans if you could chose between 2 situation, what one would it be? 1) Beat Atletico over 2 legs and lose to Liverpool or 2) Lose to Atletico over 2 legs but beat Liverpool
I can't wait for next season. I think we'll see Jose's team rather than one he Inherited . I can see more than one player coming in and out. You can tell that he isn't happy with the current squad in general. Both player wise and the lack of mental strength. It wouldn't surprise me to see us going 4-3-3 and getting a bit more width. I don't think we need 2 holding players in most games.
