http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/john-ruddy-ready-luis-suarez-3433580 "John Ruddy has given a stirring defence of his passion and commitment to Norwich as he prepares to meet his nemesis Luis Suarez today. The England keeper was involved in an angry confrontation with a fan after Norwich’s last home game ended in a defeat by West Brom, which cost Chris Hughton his job as manager. But while Ruddy admits he is not proud of that bust-up, he has explained that he snapped because he felt the supporter had questioned his dedication to a club which Ruddy says has given him “everything of value” in his life. The Canaries are deep in relegation danger with four extremely tough games to go – starting with Liverpool and Suarez, who has netted 10 times in his last three matches facing Ruddy in the Norwich goal. But no Canaries fan should be in any doubt how much the Carrow Road club means to their keeper. Ruddy, 27, explained: “It [confronting the fan after the West Brom game] wasn’t one of my proudest moments. The red mist descended after such a disappointing result. “The one thing I’d like to make clear is that I am passionate about this club. It is a club that has given me anything that’s worth any value in my life – it’s all come from being at this club. “They took a massive gamble when they took me here so I owe them a lot and when someone questions my passion, it is something I take exception to. That is what I thought happened. “I don’t take exception to many things but that is one thing I do. I give 100 per cent every match because of what the club has given me. And THAT is what I told the fan, in a very friendly manner!” And Ruddy is adamant he will re-pay Norwich’s loyalty by staying, even if they are relegated. He said: “I’m contracted to Norwich for four years and owe the club a lot. So until someone from the club says I’m on my way, I’ll be at Norwich for the remainder of my contract.” Ruddy insists he is desperate to get one over on Suarez – who has tortured him with three successive hat-tricks, including some world-class goals. The goalkeeper said: “He seems to save his best goals for me. You have to be aware of what he has done to us in the past. He can do it on a whim. He is a very spontaneous player – but if you focus just on Suarez you’ll get punished by someone else.” --- Doesn't strike me as a player who is keen to leave like the QPR mercenary rats who jumped ship at the first opportunity Always knew John Ruddy was very happy at Carrow Road ever since I saw this... Talk is cheap, let's hope he can keep a clean sheet tomorrow, and is still with us come what may in August. If a club is looking to pick up a (potentially) relegated 'keeper though, you'd think Marshall would be higher on most shopping lists. Whilst it's not the message from Ruddy, if he were to go perhaps Rudd is ready to step up. Played every minute for Preston this season and kept 20 clean sheets in 50 games.
Agree with this. I put up that video of Ruddy maybe a year ago. So. he was happy then but we are in a worse place now. Does he still feel the same? I doubt it.
I'm willing to take his word at face value. He's always struck me as a loyal player and one that would only leave if we accepted a big money offer for him. While I think some players will leave if we go down, I bet more than we think will stay.
The reason more would stay than go is because they're not good enough to get in most prem sides! The only one I'd be sad to see go would be Snoddy, who I think could easily find a prem team & maybe Howson.
Their lack of performances certainly would help in that regard, though for some reason I think Snodgrass might actually stay next year. Just a feeling.
This CotB - I've a feeling that quite a few will stay, as I don't think many would be in most PL teams' starting line up, though my son has the opposite point of view. Snodgrass and Howson I could see leaving, but of the others, I'm not sure many of them would be on most teams' 'shopping list'.
Call me cynical but it sounds to me like "if a Premier League club comes in for me then I'm not saying I don't want to go there just that the board won't let me go unless it is a ludicrous offer." Let's hope it never comes to that anyway and we stay up.
I honestly can't think that after the season we have had that there will be many big money offers coming in for our players. Let's face it, for at least 80% of the season they have massively under performed. Ruddy included, I remember seasons past when his performances were described as stellar and he kept us in games. This has not happened much, if at all this season. He may get a move to a big club as a bench warmer/Cup game keeper. But I can't see him being number 1 unless it's at maybe a newly promoted team, but look at Speroni at Palace, some would argue that this season he has been better than Ruddy.
Will never hear a bad word against Ruddy I've lost count how many games his kept us in. If the worst possible scenario happens I seriously hope McNally is still here as the wolves will be at the door and Ruddy will be the first name on the list, as unpopular as he is right now McNally is a stern businessman will do his best to put off any potential buyers.
