Just two points clear of the relegation zone when he took over.

8-1 to go down now 66-1 at least.

We'll only go down if we don't win another 3 pts and one of Cardiff, Fulham, and Sunderland remain unbeaten.

Not bad for a "chump" as he's been called on here (amongst other things).

Apart from the result I wasn't the least bit impressed with our display today. No need to go into detail because we all saw it. Still, I'll take it. On this occasion the result was worth more than the performance so credit for that. No way do I want Monk in charge for next season though. We need better.

Dont get carried away with the 'chump'. We have a severely split squad, we have been in free fall since he took over and many people will move in the summer. Much of the split has been down to the 'chump'. I hope he goes asap after the season ends.

To some extent I agree, but Monk needs to wise up to his strongest team, if he had played Emnes more, he would not have lost so many games!...........<ok>

Monk's bringing on of Emnes today looked like a moment of brillance , credit where credit is due . I can see us winning out for 45 points now frankly. My jury is still out on Monk , seems to be getting in stride.

I'm tending to agree with you here Ivor, Monk is not the long term answer, but who is the young coach advising Monk, sitting at the side of him with the clipboard?

Superb result but poor performance, we looked really shakey at times, Bony, Routledge, Briton and Emnes showed real desire. Newcastle were extremely poor, you just cant see Pardew keeping his job past next week if they lose again, could go tommorrow.

At last Monk gets something right but we simply aren't clicking this season. Our crossing is generally woeful and Bony would have scored a lot more if were consistent with that.

Even if we win all our remaining games I don't think Monk is the answer as there are far too many question marks over his tactics and subs that tell me he's too inexperienced for this level. Then there's the question of attracting players here. Gary who? may be be the question some ask. I fear that if we stay up he'll be handed the role full time. Always prepared to be proved wrong and if he is made manager I hope he does the business and I'll be the first to say good on him.

Big question - why have our Spanish lads been frozen out? Something is going on.

A good 3 points today, but not a very good performance again...very sloppy at times (Rangel and Shelvey the main culprits for me).

I don't see Monk as the man to take us forward. Some of his tactical decisions are odd, although letting Emnes loose today proved decisive. Why though did he wait until 80 mins to use a sub today? The team played as 10 men for most of the Chelsea game and today would have been feeling it a bit I'm sure. Poor management in my opinion, especially as Newcastle had used 2 of theirs in the first half and the fresh legs could have been used to exploit tiredness earlier.

Anyway, one home win should see us Ok, but I expect we will get 2 wins and a draw. Another plus was Bony's response to the goal...looked like his Cardiff celebration indicating he's not going anywhere.

Fantastic performance by Monk: he, personally was awarded an overtime penalty kick! And what a poor performance to go with it!

At this stage of the season, performances come second to results.

We deserved a result and we got one , cant be unlucky all the time . My biggest concern with Monk is if a player looks at him the wrong way you dont play , regardless of your importance ... seems that way anyways ..... anyone hear anything about Dyer having words with Monk .

Unfortunatley some will continue to whinge, but three points is three points, I'll take that. Here's to an undefeated run to the line.

All I could see was Nathan all over the bench with a grin from ear to ear at the final whistle.
(Have to say I thought today was a day made for Nathan and we could have been out of sight with his width and pace.)
Not a great performance but an important one - maybe confidence to go into the final 3 games.

Not heard anything .. but then again I rarely do, what are the rumours?
The only person on the bench who didn't look happy was Monk - think he already knows what's happening next season?

Josep Clotet , he was brought in couple of months ago as Academy advisor , now he's Monk's No 2.
