so if a driver completely cocks up his overtake and out-brakes himself he'll still have the opportunity to save himself using a 2nd boost of DRS, tsk.

Highly, highly unlikely that he'd be able to recover sufficiently to utilise DRS to make a successful pass in the second activation zone.

With DRS I think drivers should be able to use it all the time. But the driver infront only can half way down the straight. Or something like that <laugh>

Or maybe, infront driver uses KERS and driver uses DRS. DRS is too easy now to overtake.

It varies frm race to race based n where the zones are. Remember that it has only been 7 races and they are still trying to get it right.

It is still a work in progress and will be so until at the least the end of this season. New circuits will also be experimental.

We all know it's not just DRS but the combination of fresher tyres coming off the last corner and DRS being deployed down the straight that makes the overtake look easy, but DRS is also reducing the effects of the brick wall of standing air the chasing driver hits when he pulls out of his target's slipstream. That the only way in which I think it's a little unfair. Reducing the effects of the dirty air coming off the car in front is not at all unfair.

Bit of a late call. I have faith in Pirelli, despite the nagging doubt that conservative tyres will lead to a more predictable (i.e. boring) race, especially on a notoriously boring circuit. As we get deeper and deeper into the season, however, I could understand them not wanting to be accused of having a negative effect on the championship battle.

Pirelli must be worried about SS degradation, and they have every reason to be, as the supersofts lasted 20 laps in Monaco while the softs lasted more than 50 laps at the same track. We wouldn't want to see the tyres degrading too quickly, so I trust Pirelli have made the right call and we still get a decent number of pit stops.

Mercedes must be loving this news - they have issues with rear tyre wear, and we saw how they struggled on the SS's in Monaco (awful pace, Rosberg overtaken by Massa @ tabac)

There **** with every tyre though ;)

Canada was like a fridge compared to what is coming next. I reckon they're are going to get smacked with rapid tyrewear again with Nico and Michael taking 4-5 pitstops.

Why is Nick Heidfeld on this list? No way will renault get on the podium, let alone win.

It's just occurred to me that i voted for Kamui Kobayashi to win the race. I now feel like a prat for insulting Nick Heidfeld.

Ten options on a poll is a bit limited, especially when it allows multiple choice polls.

Like the character limit on social groups, it makes the forum a bit mickey mouse.

Another update, new rules on engine mapping modes are going to be brought in this weekend.

"In a note sent from F1 technical delegate Charlie Whiting to the teams, he made it clear that with immediate effect teams will no longer be allowed to change engine maps between qualifying and the race.

Such a move will effectively prevent teams from running an extreme engine map for qualifying - such as one that produces more exhaust blowing or burns more fuel – and then reverting to a safer setting for the grand prix itself."

That's huge. It should have a significant effect on the gap between Vettel and the rest in qualifying but who can predict which team will be most compromised in the race?
