The Fail is reporting that NP will hope to announce three new signings later this week: http://www.thisishullandeastriding....start-Tigers/story-12806377-detail/story.html No real surprises there, though!
They've been announcing them in some form or other for the last week or so! Such a non-story. Not quite sure where McKenna's family live but: That's about 5 minutes of travel time saved?!?
not really news is it, we've known about adebola & hobbs for months. also was common knowledge the mckenna deal was all but done. i still cant believe we're finding it this hard to sign good championship players
We still have over two months to go for signings and players will be reluctant to sign in the hope that they can get a better deal. We also have to wait for other clubs to sign players before the ones we want become available this appears to be the situation with Hobbs and maybe the case with others. Hopefully we will have some real news soon.
Christ alive it's June the 21st!!!! What do people realistically expect? a string of marquee signings by this point? If we're still in the same position come August 6th then by all means moan about the lack of wonder signings but for now everyone needs to chill out and cut all this negativity BS
Yeah - it's a bit like the Londoners' "North of Watford" attitude, isn't it? Mind you, you'd have thought that the Fail could see the stupidity of their point. (Or, then again, I guess it's about par for the course...)
What's worrying some of us is the fact that NP said we would be 'getting new signings in early' and that 'the squad would need a re-shuffle'. So far we have signed one player, Joe Dudgeon. The four mentioned in the HDM will quite obviously be joining, but 2 of them were on loan last season. Then you have McKenna who needed to be brought in as we're short of central midfielders. Adebola is supposedly giving us the firepower we need in attack - he will resolve our goalscoring difficulties Added to this, it is apparent that Mannone and Gerrard will not be returning next season. We need to fill them void positions, and apart from the Ayala rumour, we have heard nothing else about another centre-half. All in all, I can see why people are fretting at the lack of activity
Ah but this could be a scheme to get North Ferriby and Wintertons Pub Team quaking in their boots. In the meantime Feyenoord will be laughing thereselves stupid.
Yeah! I should have known better with that cretin from the Fail stating that back page today would be BIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGG news!! WOOOOPPPPPEEEEEFFFFOOOOOOOOKKKKKIIIINNNNDDDDOOOOOO!!!! THAT'S MASSIVE!! How stupid of me to think it might be something obviously trivial, like some philanthropist spending £140m on inner city redevelopment!!
I wonder if Adam's comments, that there's plenty of FREE goalies around, might come back to haunt him?
Yeah 'keeping his options open' doesn't sound too convincing. I was just trying to make a point to one of the other posters - in fact you've probably enhanced my argument
Have the clubs that have came up actually strengthened yet? I don't thin ktehy have and surely they need as much strengthning as much as us. The main ones who have made moves are the ones who have come down. Why are we panicking as pretty much no-one has made any moves.
Trust me, Southampton will do pretty well with the squad they already have. So far it's mainly been weakening of Championship teams (Leeds, Millwall, Watford) but I think the most prominent reason why people are panicking is because the club said they wanted to get their business done early. You'll always get moaners though who are never happy with any of the signings. McKenna will be a very good addition I think, but I (along with 80% of others) have concerns over Adebola
There's still a lot of free agents about, here's a selection: Adriano Basso (Wolves) Jason Brown (Blackburn) - Hopefully Leeds bound. Marcus Hahnemann (Wolves) Richard Kingson (Blackpool) Joe Murphy (Scunts) Paul Rachubka (Blackpool) Jan Sebek (Chelsea) - Bit of a punt this one, he's 20, in the Czech U20's, is 6'5" and has been a regular in the Chelsea reserves. Maik Taylor (Brum) Iain Turner (Everton) Matt Gilks (Blackpool) - Though he has been offered a new deal at Blackpool.
