If it's unfair for Cork to be dropped then it is also unfair on Chambers. But apparently not. It's just rotation from a team with nothing to play for, looking to get some of those other main senior squad players some game time.
The game changed when Vic went off injured against Villa. He sat in front of the back four and won everything. Hopefully the same again, but without the going off injured bit. The only worry is that he will take time to get back into it after being out so long.
I was going to say this. If we remember the Delph goal, they basically just ran through the centre of the park and then slammed it from the edge of the box.
I think it is unfair on Cork too, however at this stage of the season, he probably wants Vic to get some games. Clyne for Chambers is the right decision; Chambers wasn't his best last week and Clyne did well when he came on. Keep the lad on his toes.
He did. That's because he is, in my opinion, still the best RB we have. Chambers will eclipse him, I'm fairly sure. But for now, Clyne is the better player.
Just looked up the stats from the home game again 78% posssession 21 shots to 6 9 on target, to 3 8 corners to 2 Same performance today, surely can't see the same result!!
I think Clyne's better in defence, and there's nothing between them going forward. Chambers may have more scope for improvement, but on balance this season Clyne's been the better player imo. Fine margins though.
I don't see that its anti-Vic to think that Cork has been hard done by. No-one can argue that Cork deserves to be dropped. That doesn't mean that Vic shouldn't get a crack but I can never quite figure out why it always has to be Cork OR Wanyama. Why can't someone else be dropped to give him a start? Arguably they play similar positions (although not in a similar way) but last year Cork was much more of an attacking player, especially linking up with Puncheon and Clyne, so it doesn't need to be that way. Having said all that, in my case you are right in what you say, I actually don't think Wanyama is a very good footballer. Hopefully, I will be proved wrong today as this is a game I want to see us win. We owe them one!
I can see our mid-field tripping over each other as happened in the Home game, don't know where the goals will come from, just hope we get a few breaks.
Wonder how many of the people saying they'd give Gazza a start are the same tossers bitching about Wanyama playing.
