Well it was published yesterday, but says halfway down that it was done before Jay's injury. Seems pretty recent though.

I think the same guy did an interview with him at the start of the season too (or he nicked them both from a french magazine or something).

That's recent enough for me. Good find. Anyone got Wenger's email address so we can forward it? :)

My friend was at an event last week where Jesus Perez was attending and someone asked him if any key players were leaving Saints this summer. Perez said he couldn't comment but shook his head at the same time. I'm not making this up and my mate isn't the sort to make this up either. I've only just remembered about it.

Was that at Guillem Balague's book evening at Waterstone's Above Bar? I think Pérez was the guest for that.

Strange that so many Man U fans are under the impression that Luke is weak in defence, the lad sometimes is guilty of ball watching but his speed saves him, and I have yet to see him bettered one on one throughout a game. His final ball is his major flaw but that will come with game time. Man U are reportedly looking at Coentrao who would offer much better value and at the moment is the better all round player

The only player I saw do it was Victor Moses last season in the first half at home to Chelsea... then they switched wings.

Just watched today's Poch Press conference. He does make me giggle when he answers questions on this rumour or that rumour on players or situations. He says that he doesn't talk about rumours, he doesn't consider rumours and that SFC lives in a reality world of facts. When facts are there he talks about them. He then had to talk about his own situation, when a journo brought up the subject that Ralph Krueger apparently said he'd fight to keep Poch. Mauricio smiled and asked, what fight me..? The question was then rephrased and he said [again for the umpteenth time] that he had a year left on his contract and it was upto the club whether he stays or not.

I just love the way that journos can get zero out of him. He is so in control of those situations it's comical. Helps that he can hide behind David, of course. :)

Oh and Aston Villa were mentioned..!

Lol. I think if I was saying I couldn't do something I might well be shaking my head at the same time. Equally if I was saying I could do something I might well be nodding my head. Bit far to suggest that the spoken words and the gesture are anything but the same thing really.

    The standard press conference blueprint

    Who is injured? (Yawn)
Great, now that's out the way let's have 15 minutes of questions on your future and the future of the players because it's unimaginable that anyone could see their long term future in this godforsaken corner of Hampshire.

It was a great answer to say Southampton live in a world of facts

Mauricio has one year on his contract
Our important players are all signed to long term deals
The club does not need/want to sell these important players

These are the facts and the reason the club is relaxed and positive about the future. Any other talk is purely conjecture and opinion about the potential of a player or managers career path

One important thing that MP said was that he didn't understand why Kreuger talked of making an effort to keep him. 'Why is it an effort, I have another year on my contract'. We'd all like him to stay for longer, but I think that statement indicates that he fully intends to be here next season.

Southampton midfielder Jack Cork is a summer target for Fulham, Swansea and Crystal Palace.
All three clubs have shown an interest in the 24-year-old midfielder, and Swansea had a £3million bid for him turned down in January.
Cork has played a lot of games this season, but is about to enter the final year of his contract at St Mary’s.
It may leave Southampton having to sell rather than lose him for nothing or they may look to tie him down to a new deal.
Fulham made a move in the last close-season and are certain to come back - if the relegation battlers stay in the Premier League - as they remain big admirers.
Swansea and Palace are also monitoring developments and may look to take advantage of his contract expiring in 2015.

I don't think a new contract would be particularly difficult to agree on.

Yep. Jack has been chased for at least a season, but he went out of the news.

So reassuring that when Saints line up for the first game of next season we'll have to play the 14 year olds because everybody else will be gone, including all the coaching staff. :)
