View attachment 30792 WATFORD v IPSWICH Venue: Vicarage Road Date: Saturday 19 April Kick-off: 15:00 BST Beppe Sannino has not given up hope of reaching the play-offs but passionately stated Watfordâs supporters â and not a top-six finish â should be the playersâ motivation heading into the crunch game with Ipswich Town. The Hornets are seven points below the play-offs with five games remaining. But the form of the sides around them and the fact they have a game in hand means the dream of a top-six finish is still alive, just. Tomorrowâs (Saturdayâs) opponents, Ipswich Town, are eighth in the Championship, level on points with Reading who occupy the final play-off place. Watford would be sixth on goal difference had they not conceded after the 85th minute in four of their last eight matches. Ipswich Town arrive at Vicarage Road on Saturday very much in the hunt for a play-off berth just 18 months after Mick McCarthy replaced Paul Jewell. The appointment of the former Wolverhampton Wanderers boss has proven shrewd, first comfortably sustaining the clubâs Championship status before guiding the Suffolk outfit within touching distance of the top six. With four fixtures left to play, Town are eighth in the Championship standings, only outside of the play-off places thanks to an inferior goal difference. Injuries and Suspensions. Watford's Italian defender Marco Cassetti is suspended as he serves the second game of a two-match ban. Midfielder Cristian Battocchio (knee) and Lloyd Doyley (ankle) are close to returning from injuries, both could be available for Saturday's game. Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy has a number of injury problems as they look to make a late push for the play-offs. Winger Paul Anderson and striker Sylvan Ebanks-Blake (both hamstring) are among those regarded as doubtful. Head-to-head: ⢠These sides played out a 1-1 draw at Portman Road in December. ⢠Ipswich have won only one of the past 18 meetings in all competitions, drawing four and losing 13. Their only win since 2004 was 1-0 at Vicarage Road last season. ⢠Watford have won seven of the past eight meetings at Vicarage Road in all competitions, losing the most recent one. Current Form: Watford ⢠Watford are unbeaten in their past five games, winning two. Their last defeat was 2-1 at Wigan on 22 March. ⢠The Hornets have won seven of their past nine home games in all competitions, drawing the other two. Their last defeat at Vicarage Road was 1-0 against Reading in the Championship on 11 January. Ipswich ⢠Ipswich have won four of their past six games, drawing one and losing one. ⢠They have won three of their past four away games, losing the other one. Their only defeat on the road since early last month was 2-0 at Blackburn on 5 April. As usual it is hard to predict the result in any Championship game, and I have almost given up trying. There will be a sold out stadium for the game, so I am hoping that the atmosphere will come across the Channel loud and clear. Enjoy the game wherever you might be.
Takk fyrir Frenchie, I saw the post from our tractor boy and was to create a thread. Good I checked if one of us had writen. Another home win. 3:0.
Quite close this one I think. I would go for a narrow win but always dread that late goal in close games. I'll try 2-2.
Am up for this... going to go for a close 2-1 win. Last 10 mins camped in our own half, sitting too deep holding onto the lead, but somehow keep them out!!
Usual tension in this bipartheid house for today's game. (Is bipartheid a word???). Mrs GG suggests we should let them win to give them a boost towards the play-offs. As if!
