Yeh I'd agree on that but I think that much of Moyes tactics have been enforced. There were games in the first half of the season where he was attacking. Norwich and the Leverkeusen iirc are just a couple off the top of my head. I think it started to change after the West Brom loss. We were attacking in that game also, leaving ourselves open, but that result and those soon after, drew out the defensive side of Moyes and made him revert to type. I have a feeling there are indicators this season that if he sorts out the midfield, he be more adventurous. I just pray he cuts out the million fcking crosses. I wouldn't be surprised the only reason he's going for the Bayern midfielder is bcos he thinks his name is Kross, not Kroos BTW what you said earlier about giving up. The first leg against Olympiakos was the biggest embarrassment I've experienced for as long as I can remember. Not bcos of the result but bcos of the way the players (except a couple) gave up. I blame the players for that though. I lost all respect for players like Carrick and Evra that day.
Question for you UIR, would agree that we have made progress in terms of our style of play and the mentality throughout the players over the last month? Would you agree that was in large part down to the manager? Maybe the fact Moyes has identified and acknowledged what he's done wrong for the 2/3s of the season is the reason that that we've now appeared to have turned a corner. For the record, I'm not pro-Moyes. I was openly against his appointment from the beginning, but as long as he's the manger at United he'll have my support.
Good job we didn`t get Klopp then eh, it could have ruined his reputation, best we get in someone to build foundations first!
The players have to hold their hands up as they have been shocking at times but thats when moyes needs to do his job. Too many times the disappointment hung around for weeks on end.
Problem for longtime(pre Fergie)fans like yourself Diego is that the Glazers aren't the Edwards and have the same patience level as the Moyes out brigade for obviously financial reasons, different eras and situations I know but the worst thing as you've pointed out could be to **** off Moyes and end up in the same boat again and again, its a case of either doing a Chelsea and changing the manager every five minutes or giving moyes time. Can't see him being given time to build properly tbh.
It'll be interesting, the Glazers have never been in this position before, so we really have no idea how they will handle this. With RA, you get til November and if you're not doing well you're gone. If the 6 year contract is anything to go by, then they have the patience and confidence that Moyes will turn things around. Like I said though, no one really knows how they'll react.
Not really no. Weve played well in a few games recently no doubt about that but the Bayern games aside ( more about the players giving it one last push, they werent amazing though. Solid performance for 90%) weve either played mid table fodder and won easily or weve played tge like of city and Liverpool and been smashed with ease. So hardly something to get excited about really. Wouldnt be overly confident playing city or liverpool again next. Everton will be a test. Especially after they have lost. It will be interesting how Moyes sets up.
UIR, many of the players have looked this season like they thought they were untouchable in the team and to a certain extent they were because if Moyes had dropped them and still got poor results the screams for his head would have been even louder (why change a championship winning team), but i feel in recent weeks injuries have been kind to Moyes allowing him to play different players in different formations and the team now looks to be improving and getting some fight back.
Probably because 26 years ago is completely irrelevant to today. Its a pretty long time. Not quite as long as I have been around but still. Its a long long time.
As I recall reading, a lot of people did want him out in those early years... ... goes to show, you never can tell. Even AVB could have been a Spurs legend given enough time.
These players have been available all season and have performed at a higher level than the ones they have occasionally replaced more often than not. Moyes chose to keep others in the squad week after week and if moyes doest have the balls to drop players well thats his problem.
Yeh and just think where you would be if you had just stuck with roy. Guess you will have to suffer on eh.
The resources would have been a team/squad that had just won the title by a distance and decent money to spend. How long would you be prepared to give him succeed?
I will agree with all this, but i do also see why he was reluctant to drop certain players. I hope he has learnt from this and goes on to pick the players he feels deserve it.
I said that in my post, but in your opinion who gets time to build and how long does he get? Success at other clubs in other leagues in other countries isn't a guarantee of success in England.
