That is interesting. That should calm down a few heads that think immigrants are mainly Muslim.

I'm still none the wiser as to the difference between the two. Its just one of those things I guess I'll never understand.

I was thinking the same, in that, Christianity would be, by far the biggest religion with non-believers in second place. That survey is 3 years old though Stan, but I'm sure it would still be accurate.

It's not a public holiday here as were get 17th March as a public holiday instead, although it is a bank holiday....basically it means that if you work you just get basic pay instead of double time........

Today is a bank holiday? And you get basic pay? So what's the difference between that and a normal day? I'm self employed so I don't know what the story is.

The banks and pubs are closed, is that it?

Its the Census Col, so at least its comprehensive, anything else would be a projection based on a sample. Like you I think the trend is probably continuing, could be by the next census in 2121 less than 50% of the population call themselves christian. Though with only an estimated 1.3 million expected to attend a church service over Easter (half the number who watch the mildly amusing sitcom Rev.) one wonders what saying you are a Christian on a census form actually means much.

Nothing different......the joys of self employment....no work, no pay.....

Cushy number if you work in banks or civil service, they get paid anyway......

I actually really like "Rev".......brilliantly acted imo and very well written.

I think people put C of E or Christian simply because they are not sure whether they believe or not and they were brought up in that religion or being told that their parents were that religion. I certainly always said C of E when I was asked when I was younger, up until I decided that I didn't believe in a religious God!

Tom Hollander is very good, but unfortunately he is stuck in his more sweary roles in The Thick of It and the film In the Loop for me, can't shake those off when I see him in anything...think he also writes, or co-writes Rev.

Ah, I never saw him in those. I could never take to David Jason in anything after "fools and horses" for the same reason.
His fictional wife, Olivia Coleman is simply a fantastic actress.

Never really watched "Open all hours", so "fools and horses" came first for me. Really like re-runs of "Open all hours" mind.

I'm watching 'Grown Ups 2'. It's appalling, but Salma Hayek's norks are mesmerising.

Your facts are out of date. As far as the US, Easter is even less of a holiday here than in the UK. Today is not a Federal holiday, its a normal work day although some Financial Institutions close, and most of the attention here is on anything but the religious side. On TV last night they had a survey from last year and only 14% of news, TV, Radio , and Newspapers mention the religious side of the Holiday.

To be a Christian you have to believe there was a Christ and I bet a majority of so called Christians dont really believe that.

A new Harris Poll finds that a strong majority (74 percent) of U.S. adults say they believe in God, but that's down from the 82 percent who expressed such a belief in earlier years.

Yes but believing in God doesn't make you a Christian. Jews, Muslims believe in God!

2012 gallup poll = The large majority of Americans -- 77% of the adult population -- identify with a Christian religion, including 52% who are Protestants or some other non-Catholic Christian religion, 23% who are Catholic, and 2% who affiliate with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Another 18% of Americans do not have an explicit religious identity and 5% identify with a non-Christian religion.
