<peacedove>Liverpool trio Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez have all been shortlisted for this year's PFA Player of the Year award.

Chelsea's Eden Hazard, Manchester City's Yaya Toure and Southampton's Adam Lallana complete the six-strong shortlist for the award which will be presented in London on April 27.

Sturridge and Hazard are also up for the Young Player gong along with Aaron Ramsey, Raheem Sterling, Luke Shaw and Everton's Ross Barkley

didn't mourinho say the winner should be from the team that wins the league and didn't he also say chelsea are not in the title race so I'm sure he will put his full support behind one of the LFC candidates

Almost all animals can shift position. You could equally say: Jose Mourinho is like a rat monkey, he can always shift his position. <ok>

Fu*K what Mourinho had to say. That's not relevant in the least.

    Now to the PFA shortlist...

With a heavy heart I say that having 3 LFC players out of a total 6 is too much. And in fact, it is an offence in disguise. Meaning that the main reason we are at the top is that these 3 are carrying the weaker rest. Sturridge shouldn't be there. Terry or David Silva should.

Ramsey misses half a season but gets the nod ahead of Hendo? Strange.

Jose Mourinho is the most mentioned in this thread so he wins.

It is still part of my goal to one day win the PFA Young player of the year award. At 36, I'm only slightly older than some of the other entrants.

Fair play to the short list

I predicted months ago that Suarez should get poty and they'd give sturridge young poty.

However...... I think it's very very wrong that extremely expensive 24 year olds are in a category with very young lads like sterling

All bias aside I feel young poty should be between sterling and shaw with Barkley coming 3rd. Barkley is brilliant but he's been in and out while sterling is now up there scoring and helping a title push

For me..... Suarez must get top award but the 6 I think are fair.... Even a little pushed towards us.... I'd think hard if I were the pfa as I feel Suarez deserves it more than Gerrard but I could see them handing it to Gerrard to sate the Anglophile attitudes

I always thought individual awards in a team sport were a bit stupid so I really don't care who wins either player of the year award. You play the game to win and celebrate with your teammates. Who do you celebrate winning player of the year with? Yourself?
