5 from Liverpool, and worthy nominees all. Suarez and one other Liverpool player will win the categories, though Luke is in with a proper shout for Young Player, I think.

I don't think so, given that Hazard is world class and Sturridge is a hell of a lot better than Shaw is. I think Sterling might be the only one I'd put Shaw ahead of.

Sturridge is a hell of a lot better than Shaw is? How can you even make a comparison lol?

Contribution to his team, how many people at his position are better than him, who has more impact etc. If you can't make any kind of comparison then all awards - from these, to our Player of the Season awards, to the Ballon d'Or - are completely obsolete.

If it was best player under 20 he'd have a good chance, but the award goes up to 24 years. He does have six more shots at it though.

But that's why strikers and goal-scorers have an advantage in these sort of competitions. How many left-backs have won the Ballon d'Or? It's a bit off-the-cuff to say that Sturridge is "a hell of a lot better" than Shaw in my opinion. How many people at his position are better than him...ok, so Sturridge is higher up the list of strikers than Luke Shaw is of left backs? Don't think so mate.

To me, this is where it is wrong. Young player should be up to 21.

...yes, Sturridge has been arguably the second best striker in the league this season and Shaw is certainly not the second best left back. Sure, it's harder for left-backs to get acknowledgement, but are you telling me that if Liverpool offered us Sturridge in a swap for Shaw you'd tell them to shove it? And if Shaw has definitely had a better season than Sturridge then why is Sturridge nominated for the Player of the Season award while Shaw isn't?

Yeh great recognition is right. So many big clubs without a look-in and we have a player in each the running for each award. As if we weren't already, it really puts us on the map.

Ha..! Didn't notice that Hazard was still a young player. I don't keep close tabs on anything outside of Saints. Yep, I think you're right, DTLW.

Lol, your last point. Because it's easier for strikers to gain recognition in these awards and Liverpool are top of the league. Which left-backs would you rank above Shaw then?

I would swap Sturridge for Shaw, sure. A striker who can score you bags of goals is worth more than any defender, it doesn't make them a better player though necessarily?

Adam probably doesn't have a chance, unless players for the top clubs don't want to vote for their rivals and so they all go for Lallana from lil' old Southampton. We can but hope.

The thing about Sturridge though, he's an arrogant prick.

So it's a shoe-in that most other professional footballers will vote him.

How can Ramsey be on the list when he's spent so much of the season injured?

Why does everyone love Shaw but Chambers never gets a mention?

Mate, Sturridge has clearly been worthy of this nomination. As for better left backs: Baines certainly, Azpilicueta has been more consistently good, and Gibbs has been at a similar level.
