Bacon face publicly admitted that he had a 70% policy on transfer dealings. He said that he aimed for 70% of his signings to be successful. Openly admitted that some just don't work out
Elmo, that is exactly the point ... GFH negotiated contracts, they made that clear, which is why they blocked Ashley Barnes coming here ... in certain cases where you want a player there is a premium involved, and you either accept it or not ... Palace may still have considered Kebe a squad player and we know it wasn't a quick negotiation ... end result was "you sign him for the duration or bust" ... so what now, do you move on or sign him? The McD haters simply don't make any sustainable arguments against him, preferring to simply fire away in the dark like a rabid Oscar Pistorius ... this disgraceful, constant attacks on a good man and good manager who has been dealt a very poor hand is laughable, and it shows how downright silly people can be when there is no reasoning behind the digging ... we have lost so he is ****!!! I know a couple of Palace fans and they said at the time he came to us that he'd been very poor for them and nowhere near the player he was at Reading, so it's not because he can't handle the pressure of playing for Leeds United that he's been so poor. Palace fans didn't rate him, and obviously nor did Pulis.
Forza ... yet Kebe was a genius playing for McD at Reading, and some players are just like that ... not one person said at the time of Kebe coming it was the wrong move, and I'll bet not even you ... yes, I understand you want McD out, but please stop with all this pathetic campaigning and character assassination of a good man, he will be sacked we all know that, so your wish will be granted ... if you don't understand my reasoning in what I wrote then rather say nothing, because McD did exactly the right thing talking about Kebe but not defending him, only challenging him Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I thought it was a great signing, despite what the Palace fans were saying, thinking he'd come good playing a division lower and for a manager he knows well. But he obviously wasn't match fit when he first arrived, and to throw him straight into the starting XI at Wednesday with another newbie Stewart on the other wing, alongside two wingbacks and dropping our only target man Smith, playing little McCormack up front on his own, just beggars belief. Result? 6-0 hammering. Whatever is said about goings on behind the scenes, that is no excuse for playing unfit players, strange formations and players being played out of position. I take on board your point about certain players not being able to cope with the pressure of playing for a club like Leeds United as opposed to the likes of Reading, but you should apply the same logic to McDermott. Managing a backwater club like Reading simply doesn't have the same pressure and expectation. He's so out of his depth at Leeds it's unreal.
Forza - that is written with extreme hindsight. Everyone on here was demanding we got hold of and played two wingers - we got two wingers in and played them! Smith comes on at 45 mins, and within 15 seconds is sent off extremely harshly. We then ship goals in the second half. We may have played bad during that game in the first half, but his change options disappeared immediately and we were then down on players. Bad game to choose to make your point - you could have used many others
I used that game as an example because McDermott finally got his two wingers in, threw them straight in (one of whom wasn't match fit) also played with two wing backs, with our only out an out target man on the bench. So no hindsight required, just a very strange formation, which I stated before kick off. All those wide players to supply crosses to a midget up front. All in all pretty poor from someone who is paid £700,000 a year to select the team and manage it, and you're right, there are many other examples of his ineptitude this season, none of which can be blamed on the goings on behind the scenes.
I'll certainly grant you that one, Forza. It was one of many tactical oddities that we've witnessed, and I for one can't defend BM for his choices (although there may be damn good reasons we'll never get to hear, but my imagination doesn't stretch far enough to think of any possible reasons for many of his choices).
In any case I struggle to imagine BM in charge next season, fair or not So it probably does not matter, but for the record he is no imbecile I believe no manager has had a chance to truly succeed and this is down to the owners not the manager. Exception partly was NW, it was cynical move to bring him in for a year but he must have known that too and still took it, so no sympathy Reason BM succeeded at Reading (few people know that ) was he had an owner he could work with who had a long term plan based on team success and they built for success I bieve it's not true that BM could not survive the fans pressure at a big club, it was that pressure to succeed set alongside inheriting a squad of NW has beens or never-was's and lack of ambition from the owners. We'll prob never know what he would have done with the right ambition behind him and a better squad I believe he both will go at season end, and should go, not because he won't succeed again but because he has managed a team that has gone down not up - we have no momentum and a new face is more likely to deliver that now However - although I have a lot of sympathy for BM and I think people who give him vitriolic criticism really don't have a clue, he HAS made bad decisions, in particular it's bad he has brought in Reading players thinking they would repeat previous success and not getting it right (though I also think Murphy and Smith good decisions) . His tactical decisions are what Make me question him more
It's a results business, that's why he has to go. Nothing complex, I could have cited his signings, his substitutions, his formations, his boring football philosophy but no. His results are ****e end of. And yes he is a nice bloke and I don't hate him, he just isn't what we need right here, right now.
We have the same conclusion but for different reasons. If BM hah had proper ownership behind him he could have been the right guy, imho But I think unless by a miracle he can get some momentum back sharpish, his time is about up
He hasn't got a clue, got lucky and was able to "coach" an already assembled team on their continuing upward curve when he inherited a good squad at Reading. When he needed to start building on it he fell on his arse. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but we got this one badly wrong.
glory you really don't make your point well at all ... then again you are calling for Brown to be given a new contract ... says it all Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The point is simple. It's a results business and bms haven't been good enough. Brown is far from the worst midfielder in our squad. You need some bite and he still has that. Sorry if that's too difficult for you. Can't think of a simpler way to say it.
It's all about opinions Billy. You were also a fan of Haigh and he's gone, I feel Maccers days may be numbered too...
