I have seen him play twice and he was a hundred times worse than Michael Smith.
With so many players out of contract and nobody signing yet team for next season could look like this.

    Pope
    Solly, Lennon, ? Wiggins
    Wilson,Cousins,Jackson, Harriott
    Reza, Polish Pete

Subs Phillips, Nego, Church, Pyke, Pigott, Osborne, Holmes-Dennis

Don't encourage him, Mike. Better to ignore teams which only win by cheating..

Amazed at the comments on PP when the Club hinted that we had paid £700k for him!!

Wouldn't it be nice to see our strikers have a few shots in goal today. There were none at Brighton & hardly any v Barnsley.
watching this team is becoming a very dispiriting experience.

I remember Dave Bassett's old team talk at Wimbledon, expletives deleted

"lads - lots of crosses & lots is shots"

Its not rocket science, is it?

The only 2 strikers we've got who can actually hit them are Reza and Pigott. THank God we're not allowed to play Sordell today. If we start with Church and Obika I might go home before the game starts.
Our best crosser is Wilson who was dropped. Wiggins is out, mind you Fox can hit a decent cross. Er.............that's it.
Sorry forgot about Solly if he plays.

Can Sordell 'play' against Brighton today?

And does anyone know how much of his wages we pay as part of the loan?

Part of the loan deal is that Sordell has to play today

According to a Bolton newspaper Sordell can play today. If true it shows you how much Freedman rates him.

I read he can't play today... Bolton would have done themselves a favour if they said he can

Not Strikers but players I'd rather played upfront

Reza, Pigott, Devite, AA, PP, Church, Hamer, The ball boys, Riga, Sordell.

I imagine Wood would be happy to re-sign if made a reasonable offer. And Devite too if we are still in the Championship. They probably couldn't do sufficiently better for themselves to be worth the hassle of a move, but are still useful to us. Wilson is another in that category, but I believe he is already on a longer contract?

On the other hand I am sure Cousins and Wiggins could find a better hole to go to, and could agitate for transfers, and RD would be happy to put whatever miserable amount he gets for them into his back pocket like he did with the Kermorgant and Stephens money.

Surely we haven't signed Nego permanently? If not, we dont need him around.

Unless we get two strikers better than any you mention, we will get relegated for sure with that squad. I cannot understand the enthusiasm for Ghoochanneijhad on this board. I know he looks like a footballer, neat and skilful, but he is totally ineffective and always will be in British football. Pigott and Church, while Div One standard at best, still contribute more to the team. Reza will be great if we take part in any summer 5-a-sides, but that is about it.

Has anyone else noticed that when Church points to where he wants the ball played, it is to areas that he is too slow to run into ?

I keep hoping Church will score while never expecting him to. He did undoubtedly put in a good shift yesterday, but there's something painful about watching a striker working so hard for the team who can't score. There was a good example yesterday when a hard low cross came in from the right and he got his foot to it from about 6 or 7 yards to rend it goalwards, but somehow managed to take all the pace off the ball and his shot was more like a back-pass. I like the guy, but can't take watching him much more.

Nego is a permanent signing two and a half year contract. We have offered Dervite a contract but he is looking at other contract offers. Morrison has a number of Clubs interested. I suppose if we stay in the Championship we might have a chance of these players staying.

Can't be doing Pig's morale much good. He was ever so grateful to Riga for recalling him from Gillingham, and was determined top repay him; now he's not even on the bench when Sordell's ineligible. I think he's been badly managed by CP and Riga, and I fear for his future now.

I sort of agree with this, HA.

As our strikers are so bleedin' useless, we may as well look for alternatives to play up front. Does anyone remember Paul Warhurst?

And I totally agree with eddie about the uselessness of Reza. Other than his goal at Leeds, the guy has done nothing to convince me of his short/long term value. I can't see him setting the World Cup alight, but I can see him looking good in a catalogue for faux-leather trousers.

Wikipedia says "three-and-a-half years". Whatever, that is shocking news and confirms my suspicions that RD has no interest in what is best for Charlton, only in financial and fiscal manipulations to benefit his empire.

The guy is already 23 (too old to play for our u21s except as a "guest") and has been turned away by three good standard clubs (Nantes, Roma and Standard Liege). While it is always possible that he could be a late blossomer, and worth a punt if our scouts see something in him (like Kermorgant), a one-and-a-half year contract would more than sufficient as a prolonged "trial".

What possible excuse could there be for committing that amount of money then selling Smith for peanuts before we had seriously tried him out?

I agree he has been mishandled, but it takes more to be a top footballer (or any other sort of sportsman, musician, etc) than ability. You have to have self-confidence and determination to overcome obstacles. Remember that Pigott was a late developer. Three years ago all the attention was on Azeez and Sho-Silva. Piggott was an also-ran alongside the likes of Goldberg and Derry. He then pushed to the front with determination, but maybe he got as good as he was ever going to get with maybe less "natural ability" than others? He has had more opportunities than those two or many other of our juniors and has not had the rotten luck that Davisson had. It is up to Pigott to buckle down and force his way into the team. There will never be less competition than there is now.
