I love Alan Partridge, Im not trying to offend you numpty! (playful name I use)

    Anyway!

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says Sunderland's 2-2 draw at Manchester City has provided a stark reminder for his side that nothing can be taken for granted in the remaining four games of the season.

The draw means City are six points behind Rodgers' side and four points behind second-placed Chelsea with a game in hand on both their title-rivals as the season reaches its climax.

Liverpool travel to relegation-threatened Norwich on Sunday safe in the knowledge that they will win their first top-flight title in 24 years if they win their remaining fixtures.

But Rodgers, whose side can secure Champions League qualification with a win at Carrow Road, is refusing to look beyond this weekend's game, insisting Liverpool are not burdened by being tagged as title favourites.

"Two things came out of last night for me," Rodgers said. "It showed the level of performance in our game against Sunderland (which Liverpool won 2-1 earlier this month).

"We were very good in the game until the last 15 minutes when Sunderland had a little bit of pressure but we were able to manage the game and get the three points which was important.

"And I think last night was also a warning sign, a warning sign for everyone that at this point of the season with four games to go there is nothing guaranteed and I've said that all the way along.

"That was the biggest message I got from last night. Yes one of our rivals might have dropped points but that is irrelevant you have to do your own job and as I said the warning signs were there.

"There's no added pressure. There's no less or more pressure than what we had then (at the start of the season).

"We'll still look to win the game at the weekend and we're still in touch with reality in terms of where we're at.

"We've made great progress this season and our objective of trying to qualify for the Champions League was always going to be very difficult one because of the competitive nature of the league.

"But we're still on course for that and if we get a win at the weekend that will rubber-stamp for us."

Rodgers confirmed Daniel Sturridge's fitness will be assessed in the coming days after a scan revealed the striker is carrying a minor hamstring strain.

"He may struggle for the weekend," Rodgers said. "It's not too serious and won't keep him out for too many weeks, but he may be out for the weekend.

"At this moment in time we're just assessing him and seeing how he goes because he does recover very quickly."

And I agree, this is going to be an extremely tough game

Think no Sturridge as well, hopefully hes back and fully fit for the 27th

Martinez spent the whole f*cking week snivelling and whimpering about how seriously they were taking Palace, how they were gonna be very wary, how fussy their preparation were gonna be and all that. And where did that humbled awareness get them? Sometimes, it's effective to be arrogant, go out and smash their snouts in. In a tactically disciplined way though.

  7. Not so much who he left out, more the system they apparently played (I didn't watch it). Left Themselves completely exposed to the pacey counter-attack. Sure I've seen another team do that to them this season too

    What?

He didn't show them a lack of respect, he just picked the wrong side.

Playing Barkley in the deeper role didn't work as it left Barry exposed and Pulis pushed both his wide men right up the pitch and they got the better of Baines and Coleman, **** all to do with 'respect' he just got schooled by Pulis, who deserves all the plaudits he's currently getting, as they were solid and clinical.

so martinez tried a double pivot with barry and barkley?

so pulis push you full backs back, but what about mirallas not playing wide and naismith playing? what your view of what you should have done?

Naismith didn't play, he came off the bench and scored ffs.

Mirallas moved inside to allow Deulofeu to play right side, which on paper looked a decent shout, but the fullbacks were even more exposed than usual as Barkley didn't offer the workrate that McCarthy does and they exploited it.

His main mistake was going too attacking by swapping McCarthy for Barkley. As I think he anticipated Palace parking the bus and that we'd need more guile to break them down, but they had more possession than us ffs!

Pulis did him and Martinez was given a painful lesson. Shame as we've now blown any chance of 4th, but that's the game for you. We move on........

Not yet, still only 1 point in it. You have the toughest fixtures but who knows! Martinez has a knack of beating 'big times' so I woudnt definitely say you wont beat City

I didn't watch it, if it was the way you were set up, why didn't he change it when it clearly wasn't working?

Just read your official website report as the Barca game was on and it seemed to have your end team on it in formation rather than your starting 11, it also says osman not Barry so I assume that was a sub?

    Anyway just interested
