Haha, it says "Steam Guard not enabled" and doesn't give me the option to enable it.

Yeah, I tried that, and the button they said would be there just wasn't! Fortunately I logged out and logged back in and suddenly now I have Steam Guard enabled. I guess it just takes everything a bit of time to get going when you create a new account.

I had my brother send me some **** on my previous account and I never had to do any of this.

 

Alright then. Remind me in 15 days and I'll get it sent over. Thankfully it doesn't expire until May 13th so there's plenty of time.

Yeah it seems this Steam Guard thing is a new(ish) system, but it's different to gifting full games and stuff because... I dunno, because why the **** not.

 

Well cheers anyway. Now, what cool things can I get for free on Steam?

 

If you were on it before last week you could of got your card details taken, because if a fault with their openssl. Is that cool?

LoTR online is free, as is a few other games. One of the categories you can search for is free to play. I also recommend Planetside 2. That's good fun.

 

I'll add you, but I don't intend to be playing those games.

I'll try them, but it largely depends on what this ****ty old PC can take.

I also now have the new South Park game, which I will be trying out shortly.

I only moved on from 1.6 a few years ago!

I don't think my pc could handle CSGO, also I'm too old to learn the new maps. I've been playing CS intermittently since 1999.

 

Brilliant! Something else I can worry about. So my card details have been stolen by PS3 and Steam now aswell?

 

Eh I can't find anywhere reliable saying Steam has been ****ed so you're fine.

 

From what I've seen there are actually barely any new maps haha, I played 1.5 and 1.6 for a while and then basically lived on Source for a few years but haven't played in ages. Unfortunately my computer can't even run Source let alone GO.

 

Depends what you mean by new. I go on UKCS servers but get frustrated because I don't know the new maps, so I tend to stick to Office only. I wish they had a server that had classics on rotation like Dust2, Italy, assualt, siege, militia, etc. There are ofcourse other servers, but too many newbs and bots!

I'm worried about your PC if it can't handle CSS! My antiquated machine can run it on 40fps, which I know is crap, but I kind of got used to it.

 

Haha I was primarily an Office kind of guy too when I was just playing casually. The two machines I have at the moment are a decade old PC that barely turns on and a little 11 inch netbook laptop, I don't know which would run it worse. Should be getting a good laptop very soon so can hopefully get back on some CS, been watching a lot of pro CSGO tournaments/scrims recently which has been growing the addiction back inside me.
