These are the remaining fixtures for the sides 2nd to 8th....

    Burnley
    Blackpool A
    Wigan H
    Ipswich H
    Reading A

    Derby
    Donny A
    Barnsley H
    Watford H
    Massive A

    Wigan
    Reading H
    Burnley A
    Blackpool H
    Brum A
    Blackburn A

    Reading
    Wigan A
    Boro H
    Donny A
    Burnley H

    Brighton
    Huddersfield A
    Blackpool H
    Yeovil H
    Forest A

    Ipswich
    Watford A
    Bournemouth H
    Burnley A
    Weds H

Burnley are going to have a major influence on the Play Offs assuming the don't go in to total meltdown and lose all 4 games, Wigan and Reading play each other. Derby have a fairly straight forward run in mind Massive away last game is not easy. Ipswich have a fairly tough final set of games, Brighton not too bad.....

Based on this we should be pretty much set in the play offs as I doubt that either Brighton or Ipswich will pick up maximum points, its just a case of whether we finish 3rd, 4th or 5th....

    Thoughts?

PS I didn't include the R's fixtures as we all know who we are playing....

I think Burnley have the toughest run in, followed by Wigan.

So annoying that we didn't put more pressure on Burnley when we had the chance. I actually could see Burnley losing their last 4 but I can't see us winning all our 4.

    Hopefully Ipswich, then Derby.

I think he was referring to the last 4 games before play offs

    Leicester A
    Watford H
    Millwall H
    Barnsley A

It is still going to be a hard job for Burnley to secure 2nd spot, Derby has a great chance to overtake them in the final 4 games. Burnley has to win their next game against Blackpool, and even then they are not definately 2nd. Their 3 last games are going to be very tough with opposition fighting for play off places.

I wouldn't rule out Bournemouth yet, they're still only 2 pts off 6th, with run in :

    Sheff W H
    Ipswich A
    Nott'm F H
    Millwall A

and are in top form, unbeaten in 6, with 5 wins and a draw.

As Alan Brazil would say - they're coming in to the playoff positions with a wet sail!

Have you had or having a bet on Derby to finish 2nd - I reckon you'd get at least 16/1.

Just in case Burnley do a "Devon Loch", I had a £50 accumulator on Derby to win their last 5 games - Huddersfield, Donny, Barnsley, Watford and Leeds.

Still good odds for anyone wanting to back the Rams. Three wins and a draw will be enough for Derby even if Burnley draw a couple.

Interesting scenario if Burnley need one point to finish 2nd and Reading need one point to finish 6th when they meet on final day.

My guess is that Burnely will beat Blackpool and not need any more points, Derby would need to win every game without dropping any points.

I'd be very impressed if they managed to win every game and still dropped points.

A lot of older Burnley fans remember 1962 when they were cruising to the old Division One title but only won 1 of their last 10 games to hand the title on a plate to Alf Ramsey's newly-promoted Ipswich.

The Clarets finished 2nd by 3 points and to compound their misery they lost to Spurs in the FA Cup final.

Speaking as an Ipswich fan I am absolutely delighted with the job that Mick and Terry are doing here after saving us from the drop last season! An amazing job considering that they have spent bugger all money on transfers. We are definately the underdogs in the race and the media are pretty much ignoring us which is fine by me! <ok>

Yeah, think maybe you and Brighton/Bournemouth may well gatecrash the play offs at the last minute. I'd like to see us get some momentum prior to playing the form teams hittting the play off places.

The fact that there's such a big gap between 2nd and 3rd means no team will be disappointed that they're in the play offs (as opposed to automatic promotion), as we pretty much knew that by March.

We have got a very tough run in as we play Watford (bogey team) away and then Bournemouth at home over Easter. Win these two and we can really start to dream! I watched your game against Forest last week and it was a good result for us.

Good luck for the rest of the season and who knows maybe a QPR Vs Town final!

Speaking of Brighton, I read in the paper yesterday that they gave Oddball's mate's lad Solly March a new four year contract. That Club is going places IMO. Its only a matter of time before they make the Premier League.

And Solly will be a part of it.

The automatic race is far from over - McClaren has not given that up and the Rams have 4 "easy-looking" games left compared to Burnley. QPR are not totally out of it if they win all 4.

I'm hoping that you will have already secured promotion by the time we play you! <ok>

I hope so too, but we have previous for messing up promising situations.

My worst nightmare is that we end up in the play-offs and lose to Blackburn. A computer programme actually predicted this several weeks ago, but it had Forest winning the play-off final.

Lot of clubs looking at him and he had Newcastle offer before he stayed loyal to his local club . Outstanding little sod he is and will end up in the England team within three years
The ground is outstanding and they could sell another 20,000 season tickets ... If only you could get out of the ground around the place it's just a massive cock up
