Look FS...I didnt say I was proud of it...but I thought that we should give both more time cos after all keith Burkinshaw went from taking us down a division, losing 5 nil at home to the goons and 7 nil away to liverpool, taking 3 matches to beat non league altringham in the fa cup in the late 70s to great cup success in the 80s.

Obviously I was more wrong than ginger spice in that union jack dress but gimme a break <laugh>

Keithy did a season at Spurs as senior coach before taking the manager job.
And wikipedia suggests he may have had a season coaching at the Toon the year
    before that.

The fairness in me wants Timmy to remain part of the setup when a new manager
comes in. Jump thru the coaching badge hoops etc.

The reality IMHO is that Timmys' ego and the alleged 1m summer payoff won't allow it
(even if a new manager was open to this) .

For someone who is apparently being sacked this summer, Sherwood is acting as if he's been given the task of planning and preparing for next season, with him as manager!

Tim should focus on this year and stop telling the world about planning for next year as he's just setting himself up for ridicule.

A was watching one of those Police Interceptor shows a while ago and they had an episode based in Hull.
Their main problem was criminals coming in from Liverpool, for some reason. Drug related, IIRC.

I was going to say, I think all this anti-Scouse stuff is over the top, as I had a good friend from Liverpool once.

She and her friends were the nicest people you ever met, especially after I bailed her out of jail.*

*Slight exaggeration. I actually paid forty marks to get her released from police custody for getting caught without a ticket on the Munich subway. But she had stolen a Garfield "Not a Happy Camper" doll the day before.

Regarding Keith B. He got stuck by our, then, directors who got rid of most of our "star" players and brought in a lot of young reserves. They couldn't cope and we were relegated. The "kids" learn't what it was all about in that one season in Div 2.

Previously the same directors had brought in Neal,ex Arsenal,as manager.....and he did bugger all.Narrowly missing relegation himself! Thanks to a home win against a Leeds team that wasn't trying as they had other fish to fry!

I was there too. 144 bus from Gants Hill... The first season I went regularly. We then got relegated. The season in Div 2 was fun though!

1977-78 was my first season supporting as a kid.
Stress free supporting (apart from that last home game against Hull) .
And 50,000 attendance for a Division TWO game.

I used to go the other way on the 144 (N18 to Gants Hill) .
The Odeon there was fantastic (best big screen for miles IMHO - outside of the West End) .
