Having a pretty intense debate with a Scouser on another forum who feels physically ill that I would dare compare Hull to Liverpool, and says there is nothing the two teams have in common, after I suggested that the two teams are probably the most tactically flexible in the division and both rely on counter-attacking pace to rip teams apart. What are others thoughts? Am I as moronic and stupid as he suggests or am I right in thinking that we're at least in some ways similar to Liverpool?
A Scouser you say? Someone who revels in disaster and has a huge victim mentality, along with thinking that LFC deserve to win the League for the 96 who were tragically murdered by the police whilst doing nothing wrong, and that LFC are actually entitled to win the league because they're a big club and haven't bought the league, all their players are home grown and on 10 bob a week? One of those scousers that thinks LFC is still the biggest club in the world? How very dare you compare the lowly Hull to the magnificent red jewel that is Liverpool. In fact, I'm surprised you're even allowed to gaze upon their glory.
Hull City 3 Liverpool 1 A good enough reason to let them win the Premier League this season, methinks.
I saw some plastic turds arguing on facebook the other day, and the so called 'Liverpool fan' was telling people they wanted Liverpool to win the league if they didn't support City or Chelsea. "All the neutrals are backing us, you're a **** if you don't" bla bla bla. Seems the disease spreads by association.
That is quite legitimately his menality. Paragraph after paragraph about how insulting it is and how physically ill he is that I would dare compare Hull City to Liverpool, calling us a 'poor man's Liverpool' is laughable, that there is NOTHING the two teams have in common tactically etc. etc.
Hasn't Liverpool's success in Europe always been a perversity as they face away from Europe towards Ireland and America? We are the gateway to Europe, historically part of the hanseatic league, ferry cross the Mersey ha ha, we have ferries across the North Sea. Great to see Palace beat Liverpool Toffees last night almost confirming Arsenal a champions league place and putting us into Europe, where we should be!
I've heard similar crap about all neutrals will want Hull City to win the Cup instead of Arsenal. Can't wait to see all those Leeds, Scunny, Sun'lan & Palace fans coming on here wishing us good luck.
One thing we both certainly have in common - we're very nearly at the end of the season - only a few matches left - and if we both achieve our remaining goal we will be both be at Wembley in early August for the Community Shield. He is true that we don't have one thing in common. We can cope with losing our best striker.
Not to mention the other premier league club supporting eggchasers. Spoke to a Hull based leeds u fan today who tells me 'most' of City's new support are ex-leeds fans?? news to me. I don't know of any. I do know of leeds/fc fans from Hull. I thought the way Liverpool beat Manchester city at the week end was disgraceful. Suarez should have been sent off for blatant diving, there were two in the second half Tom Daley would have been proud of. The only way Hull City can be compared to Liverpool is that we both play at opposite ends of the M62.
Can't stand Liverpool I hope they get beat on goal difference in the title race. HULL CITY + St Helens 4 Ever
Can't see many similarities, to be honest (could be different if we both win domestic trophies this season). What forum was this on? Just looked back to some of the twitter updates from Sunday & seen the local gloryhunters blubbering that loads have latched onto City because of our recent successes.
An Aussie one. It was in the context of a discussion about how Liverpool are the only team in the league able to comfortably change formation with the same set of players. I then mentioned that Hull City have done similar this season switching from a 3-5-2 to a 4-4-2 with ease, was then treated to an outburst of bile and anger for suggesting that Hull City play anything like Liverpool.
The Scouser was right. Liverpool are a far superior team. If we played them 50 times they would win 36, 10 would be drawn and we would win 4. People are getting a bit carried away because we made it to a final by beating lower league teams and Sunderland. We have a fast improving team with reasonable skill and a good work rate, but to compare us to any of the current top 7 is inviting deserved ridicule.
