I was out of the room and heard something (on Radio 4) about Palace. Caught the words "..and with Cardiff facing relegation, this could be a major problem fot the football authorities....."

    Anyone heard anything?

Yes. Cardiff have put a case forward that the premier league is a football competition, and as Palace play mixed martial arts, not football, that they should be expelled from the league.

Sky and BT also want them and West Ham gone, they're tying to get refunds from the premier league for any games involving these teams which they're contracted to televise. Apparently the entertainment value of watching Crystal Palace spend 90 minutes purely timewasting is extremely low and viewing figures drop through the roof.

    One can but dream.

I thought it could the Prince of Wales...

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/cardiff-city/10766402/Cardiff-City-make-official-complaint-over-Crystal-Palace-spy-scandal.html

Cardiff City have stepped up their row with former head of recruitment Iain Moody after making an official complaint to the Premier League over the ’spy’ scandal.
The Welsh club insist they have evidence that Moody, who now works as Crystal Palace’s director of football, contacted members of Cardiff staff before their game on April 5 in a bid to discover team information.
Palace comfortably won the game 3-0 but Cardiff have compiled a detailed dossier claiming to prove Moody’s involvement, with sources even alleging that certain inducements could have been offered in exchange.
Moody, who was dismissed by Cardiff in October, and Palace have strenuously denied the claims and chairman Steve Parish declined to comment when contacted by Telegraph Sport on Monday evening.
The Premier League issued a statement which read: "The Premier League has received a formal complaint from Cardiff City and will now investigate the matter."

Two Cardiff employees are facing disciplinary action over the controversy, while it is also understood that a football analyst was dismissed early last week for gross misconduct, though it was not related to the alleged leaking of the team to Palace.
The League is duty-bound to investigate though the issue is delicate due to the bad blood that exists between Cardiff and Moody, with Malky Mackay, the former manager, taking his demand for compensation to court.
Palace are convinced Cardiff’s accusations are a vendetta against Moody, who was appointed in November, and are designed to sabotage their own battle against relegation.

Aha! It's about Tony Pulis obtaining Cardiff's team selection hours before their match. Dougie Freedman apparently also involved.

It's claimed that Palace gained a 'Sporting Advantage'......

what a load of balls , it isnt very often that a team selection contains surprises , especially at a club you follow and im sure clubs keep a very keen eye on the probabilities of a particular player , playing .

You have to wonder why anyone would want the info when Ole doesn't know his own best eleven.

Cardiff want the result overturned, but they haven't got a prayer of that happening.

I would be surprised if there was a points deduction.

I think both clubs should face a points deduction. C palace because one of their staff tried to obtain an unfair advantage, Cardiff because one of their staff tried to give another club an unfair advantage. This undermines the fairness of the competition, but employees of both clubs -- if it's proved -- acted wrongfully and therefor BOTH should face points deductions. Ten points each would be about right.

Rings a bell, something about Shaun Derry being involved in the scandal at the time.

Am I right in thinking that what Cardiff are claiming is effectively:

    1. Palace (ie Moody) tried to find out the Cardiff line-up.

    2. Cardiff fed him duff information.

    3. Cardiff only complain after they lose the game.

If so, can't Cardiff see the problem there?

I don't think either of you are going far enough. Several staff members at the top clubs have been seen reading previews of matches in newspapers this season, which is basically cheating. Any club with more than eight letters in its name should face a substantial deduction, plus Arsenal because Samir Nasri used to play for them.

Everton can have the title, with City in second place.
