And he's only 26, he will peak again. But the man is SO GOOD that even when he scores almost 40 goals, we consider that a dip in form, that speaks for itself as to how damn good the man is.
It's more to do with him having played 10-20 games less than he has in the last few seasons due to injury problems. Plus he still has 38 goals in 40 appearances... Whether that is low by his own ridiculously high standards or not it's still a hell of a lot better than almost any other player this season.
Tony Pulis is a winner. He inherits a team of disorganized below average players and turns them into a solid unit of players that fight for each other every inch of the way.
You can be a 'winner' as a coach without having a team that can win. It's how you approach your games with what you have. He's not an 'irrational' fighter, setting out to play a certain way to prove he can beat X or Y. He is pragmatic and gets the most of what he has.
You forgot to mention the atrocious band of football and the bunch of thugs he get playing it.Even his disciples at The Brittania got thoroughly pissed off with him.
He gets his teams organised and motivated to battle hard. But the vast majority of the time I've seen him as a manager he doesn't set out to win. He's quite happy grinding out horrible draws. He's a fighter, he's makes his teams battle, he makes them very difficult to beat and I wouldn't disagree that he is good at using what he has at his disposal. But I wouldn't describe him as a winner.
You joke but anything less than the league and I think things will get ominous for him very quickly. I hope not mind as he's obviously a very good manager and actually manages to come across as professional and pleasant.
I can't believe that neanderthal Pulis and his bunch of cavemen beat Everton. Its sad to see them lose but if it means that we get back into Champions league then that's life. Ideally one of Chelsea or City drop out but that's never happening....
To be honest, that would probably best for them as they are clearly lacking in the squad department to make an real impact. Two of their best players are loanees, and they also have Barry as a loaned player too. Europa would be a good test for Martinez and his Everton side.
Worth a go too, as from next season the winners go into the following years CL. For teams like Everton and Spurs that's an opportunity. Although it will always be tough with teams like Chelsea, Juve and Benfica dropping into it from the CL. As for Everton, if they did get 4th this year, making the CL group stage would still be tough as its very likely they would be in the 2nd seeds for the play-off, so could draw the likes of Napoli, Bilbao, Port, Leverkusen etc!
