You can work that out from the club accounts. These jokers may call it 2014 in their report but they are working from the 2012-13 figures, because they are the only ones available.

Settles the big club or not argument though. We are ****ing humungus.

It's old news, but I bet you we are not f**ked Kerry. Do you really think the FL is going to impose a £60m or whatever it is fine on a club already £177m in debt? There can only be one possible consequence, the club goes under. In who's interest is that? No one's - the creditors are the owners, there is no repayment pressure. A bigger risk is that fat cat owners decide to get out of football en masse because of tiny minded bureaucrats who think they can tell them how to waste their money. Which may, in the longer term, not be such a bad thing.

My son has just pointed out to me that Shaun Wright Phillips earns more than Diego Costa though, which seems rather absurd. About 3 times more.

I am naively working to the assumption that Messrs Fernandes, Beard et al, being duly aware of the FFP rules and obligations, have a strategy to ensure the club meets the criteria when it matters and are not careering blindly along, blissfully ignorant of such stuff.

I have also removed my trousers and answer to the name of Wendy Malaprop-Sportsbra.

The premier league have already told the FA they think that the FFP being introduced in the football league is unworkable and draconian. Add to that the fact that we and most of the other clubs in the division have already talked about taking legal action if it is implemented means it is unlikely to ever be introduced in it's current format. Certainly there is no way that the fining of clubs will be introduced as planned, but transfer embargo's is a real possibility.

It may get nasty but there's uefa who want to ban teams from Europe and the fa who want it in our leagues so we could see that one is passed while the other is deemed illegal.

We are ****ed if it comes in and we don't go up. We need a whole new squad and the cost of new players will go towards ffp.

Its also funny that platini wanted out to stop English clubs but PSG will be one of the most affected.

I hope for a salary cap in all four leagues, either in total amount or per player.

Personally I like the MLS system with the salary cap of around $3million for the whole squad on top of which you can have up to 3 designated players who can be bought in on higher wages and don’t count towards the salary cap (Defoe at Toronto is an example of this).

However, whilst this seems to work well in a league where there is no promotion or relegation how well it would translate to the championship would be another matter.

I'd have it so there's a cap of x amount for the PL, 40% of that for the champ, 25% for l1 and 10% for l2.

Then have auto clauses for everyone, have wages for being relegated from the PL a d double for being promoted.

I think the PL would be better if we got rid of everyone on over 100k a week, you might not have the world class players but most teams would have a chance of winning it.

I think all players should get full time jobs and play 90mins of football for nothing

We have about 15 players out of contract, 5 or 6 players in on loan.

I think 20 new players counts as a new squad.

We have contract negotiations with many of the 15 - if not all of them. Those contract negotiations are ongoing, and will be resolved one way or another. Loans may turn into permanents, or other loans come in. That's not 'a whole new squad' by any stretch of the imagination (except yours, apparently). The action we need to take is no different to the action pretty much every club takes, every season.

Enough with the doom and gloom posts now, mate - you're getting very tedious.

How do you know we are negotiating with them?

Can you list the ones we are going to resign?

Can you please list 5 teams that have only had 5 players under contract going into the summer?

You do know these negotiations will have signing fees which will of course count towards FFP? 20 odd signing fees is a massive amount, as will be the agent fees.
So the fees are going to be there whether we sign new players or old ones.

Also, I'm not even getting into the fact we shouldn't be signing them on their massively overpaid wages.

Edit, even Redknapp himself says you are talking bollocks.

    https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/f...ger-Harry-Redknapp-holds-off-on-players-deals

Redknapp said: “I won’t even look at it. There is no point. You need to look where you are at the end of the season.

“You can’t be offering people new deals at the moment. There is no rush. We will wait and see how we go. A lot depends on where we end up. But we have to look carefully at the money we spend on wages next year.
