Isn`t that always the case though Bri?
If you bring someone in to do a job you have to back them to do it or there`s no point.

Genius boarders on insanity. Paolo is a very intelligent man who had them sussed in an instant but his passion and honesty put himself in the firing line.

Well yeah, I read the Poyet quit threads and just didn't read into it what others have, a lot of folk feeling he'd walk from the challenge. Yes his interviews have been very cryptic, but when you lay it over the our present plight and the state of our club and the stage of the season, it had to be in regards to summer backing. The ball in Short's court now, well and truly, but if he won't back him, I suggest he finds a buyer

I`m not sure Short has much of a choice tbh it`s more a question of how much backing. The reason I say that is I reckon he`d have trouble finding a buyer.

It`s not just the players though. He can start by sending Byrne back to the legal dept where she belongs and work down from there.

Gus and Short are going to have to come to some sort of agreement.

Not sure what Magie brings to the table but cutting away the rotten flesh on the pitch and the contracts they're on would be my priority. Wonder how much Gus is going to ask for? TV money will clear our debts, the squad will be ready stripped and we've got good assets, we'll certainly be an attractive investment for anyone looking to buy a football club, just depends on how much Short would want. If he's not going to back a manager in a major rebuild I hope he does sell. I don't want another Bob Murry running us on a shoe string, happy as a mid table championship side attracting Buxtonesque managers.

He thinks Seb Larrson is a 35k a week player. Would love someone to ask him what he feels his failings are in our current plight. He was the 'Football man' to Ellis and was chairman of the club who signed of on radged contracts.

I love Quinny for what he did for sunderland but he needs to take some of the blame for giving players like Larsson 35k a week.

Absolutely right he does, I adore the man, but he did seem to have a slightly Hollywood philosophy, the signings simply weren't thought through or planned, or signed to enhance, they were scattergun, and we have been stuck with the **** cos nobody else would lash out such stupid wages to such average players.

We need to spend, to invest, but it needs done properly. Simple rule of thumb, if a good, but not spectacular player asks for 40k a week, he's probably a mercanery, so tell him to **** off.

We want young, hungry players, but we need to more or less interview them and get to know there mentality as much as anything, BEFORE we sign them.

Exactly. The man is a god in my eyes, on and off the pitch. He'd never damage the club out of malice but he's proper dropped the ball with contracts. It seems a bit hush hush to point the blame at him but it doesn't make it less true. Remember how long it took us to get rid of Nyron and McCartney? Seems like he was offering overly generous contracts before Short's bought the club too.

If Gus Poyet is to be backed by SAFC then Ellis Short needs a bit of support, he needs to be told what to say to players at times, i.e, if you don't like leave or join the reserves. He needs to sit down with the scouts & Poyet to discuss transfers, then he needs to let Poyet know he supportss him & he knows to leave him in charge of the team. If he isn't prepared to do all that, then Poyet might as well leave.

At this moment in time it will be damn near impossible to get a decent manager to come to SAFC after the things that have been said about the club, the best we would get at the moment is a failure at other clubs looking to make a couple of quid, like him or not, I feel we are better of sticking with Gus Poyet for the time being at least!
