More chance of first team football at Portsmouth may give us the edge over Wolves <ok>

As much as it would be great for him to join, it would provide more comfort if it was a permanent transfer. We really have to start cutting back on the number of loans, cos last season it was more like Miscellaneous United.

But he would be a great addition.

As long as Liverpool pay the majority of his wages would be a good signing. He's no Carl Dickinson though ;)

....that's a relief then - probably the worst player to pull on a Pompey Shirt in recent years.....

    ....but that's another thread innit'

Why won't Liverpool give him a free transfer ? He is obviously of no use to them, and I would have thought Kenny was wishing to "clear the decks" of unwanted players, to make room for all the big signings he is making, or about to make.

If might mean paying him quite a lot to cancel his contract but if they run it down by loaning him out and getting the clubs he's loaned to to pay something towards his wages then they can get rid of him for nothing in a few seasons.

Now that's the sort of player/business Pompey should be doing. If that's an inkling of what's going on behind the scenes then bring it on..

We should be signing anyone we can of such Premiership quality for as little as possible to build up squad numbers and encorage other players to come to Fratton! At present we have a 5 a side team with subs and need both numbers and quality and time for the first choice 11 to gel in pre season.<ok>

    Liverpool fan in peace.

I believe Konchesky would be an excellent signing for Portsmouth. He won't get another chance at Liverpool because he didn't perform when he was in the team and his mother said some rather nasty things about the club and the city of Liverpool. I believe he is a good Premier League defender but not of enough quality for a top 4 club. (Which is what Liverpool are aiming for in the coming years)

In regards to another post asking why we don't give him a free, he signed a 4-year contract when he came to us last summer. I can't see the club paying off the rest of his contract if there is some interest from other clubs. I've heard he is on between £40,000 and £50,000 a week.

I believe you could get him for a knockdown price because we want him off our wage bill as soon as possible. In my opinion, you'd need to get him to take a wage-cut. Regarding the actual newspaper article, I can't see a season long loan. I think our new owners want high-earning players who aren't contributing off the wage bill so i'd expect any deal to be permanent.

Anyway, good luck for next season. I see you've got some new owners! Hopefully, they can sort out the financial mess you are currently in and bring you back to the Premier League!

No there was nothing wrong with your original post - we have to keep sorting the wheat from the chaff on this board now that the BBC606 has closed - the chaff keep trying to slither over the brighter side of Hampshire..... pests.

Thanks for your kind words - we hope our new owners will get things sorted out asap as well. Good luck to you next season as well.

Cracking player and will do well at this level.... but as previously mentioned..... High wages (may need a percentage paid) and you really could do with some perm signings??? Out of deep water now.... so hope the new owners dont make similar mistakes! The income needs to outweigh the exp! Especially with the new proposed rules???

Looking forward to seeing you guys! Hopefully my first visit to the dark side this season! Should be fun!!!! :) 1-1! :D
