Ultimately, RBR broke the rules and were punished. Mercedes broke the rules and were punished McLaren have broken rules and were punished. Renault fixed a race, and got away with it. Ferrari have got away with everything........
It's not the competitors, it's the manufacturers, Ferrari, Mercedes and Renault (when they ran their own team), got away with almost everything. Renault were allowed to keep their points for crash-gate, Mercedes got a stern look for having covert mid season tests we are assured by them and their fairly new commercial partner were above board (hmm), Ferrari, well, theirs are numerous and they've rarely received a slap on the wrist. The Privateers lose points and get fined. But that's the point, they weren't punished at all, their Youth driver, who had nothing to do with Mercedes illegal test at all, was. Mercedes got away scot-free, as did Whiting.
Hamilton or the team he's currently driving for... The most accurate and true method by which to measure ANY cheating, rule bending, questionable overtaking crashing, moaning, relationship failing, dog owning or earring wearing incident. FACT!
Will there be sun-beds? Actually that's not far off, how many times has he been caught covertly trying to illegally gain an advantage? 3 or 4 or is it more, it definitely isn't any less.
I'm going to play the westy law card. and add taking part in an illegal test with a black helmet is also covertly trying to gain an advantage, which we all know he was caught doing, but due it being for a manufacturer he was let off, as was Rosberg.
10 place grid drop for Hamilton and put whitmarsh in charge of strategies. Pretty standard punishment right there
You can't slap spygate and testgate on Hamilton. Aus '09... He was a naive fool and deserved his punishment.
are you saying he didn't disguise who he was by wearing a black helmet, and then knowingly take part in an illegal mid-season test? You seem to think it's okay for Hamilton to knowingly break the rules and not be punished, because it's the fault of his team, but if it's Daniel Ricciardo unknowingly ignoring a directive, then it's fair he gets punished?
He's an employee of the team. Would you expect Vettel to come out and tell everyone if they were running an illegal wing, engine map or component. Of course not.
Depends, what if that team member was under the impression that the go to FIA man had OK'd the whole thing? Wonder what our friend Mr Brawn thinks of all this.... please log in to view this image
hmm I dunno on both counts. He was driving the car in testgate and also he was a test driver for McLaren in '06 and was being lined up for the drive the following year and must of knew some bits of spygate. None of them he could of helped however as it was the direction of his employers. The drivers who are the front people sadly take the flak for these things.
