Until this season I would agree with you as being at Everton's level.
But they've left us behind and stepped up to the upper tier imo.
Simple way to do it as well. Employ a young enthusiastic manager who changes the playing style and take a chance on some decent loan deals.
I appreciate that they didn't sack Moyes, but, they've never looked back since he went.
    Pardew is our Moyes.

Do you think Pardew might walk?

no chance, I mean Moyes was holding Everton back the same way that Pardew is with us.

nothing wrong with wishful thinking. we've done it long enough <laugh>
you never know, if the crowd turn on him badly enough, he might decide he's had enough.

It depebnds if it is based on reality or what I think we are capable of.

In reality looking at our owner, investment etc, I thought about 10th at the start of the season. Small squad with very little quality cover. Then we sold our best player and the player we based our whole gameplan around. I then thought, lower mid table. As it turns out we've shown relegation form.

If we are talking where I'd be less pissed off, I'd be happy if we just invested a little and flirted with 6th-8th and played nice football.

If we are talking what is the club capable of, then we already know when we compete with the big teams financially, we are capable of buying our way into top 4 finishes and title challenges as we did under KK and SBR.

Yep, it's fairly textbook. As I've said before, huge failing of Pardew is putting all his eggs in Cabaye's basket, you can't manage a selling club that way, so at that level Ashley needs to take a look. I wouldn't like Pulis, but he's the polar opposite and it works. It'd be interesting to see what a Pulis could do here, under this regime. That's what we need - someone who builds an entire team on the same level, not one or two superstars unearthed and a "you 9 work your a$$es off, get the ball back and give it to Cabs or Remy" tactic.

Pretty much agree with all of this. As much as I've admired a lot of the ways pardew has handled the mess up here, plan b is not his forte. Even saying that though, he still has to work with all the nonsense he's given, and just the thought of pulis is frightening really.

Also if that elliot interview is legit then at least there's some honesty there. I bet the players are as pissed off as us as cabaye going (some of them anyway. Will remy care? He's going. Others..well, they don't look it, but its not as if pardew can even channel this frustration into anything productive..he's obviously not going to criticise the regime in the dressing room to motivate the players, we can all see what's going on up here. So we get stuck in this safe but irritating half a season limbo. I honestly can't believe people are still attending games tbh, season ticket holders exempt. **** that, the rug was pulled out you'll get f all from me.

Pulis - No not ever. You can't sell your soul to the devil here. I'm not sure Pulis would get far because the fans wouldn't be interested in his brand of football. They'd be on his back in no time (I'd probably stop going, Allardyce nearly broke me last time). I admire what he has done at Palace. Once the honeymoon is over though, can he maintain a solid mid table position with them? I'm not so sure. I wouldn't want to watch it and football is about entertainment.

We are in a horrible place. You know what, I'd rather we did put all our eggs in one basket and I take back what I said the other day. I want to watch good footballers. So if the choice is one Cabaye or two mid tables plodders then I'll take Cabaye.

I just find it hard to believe our budget couldn't stretch to another striker (say Shane Long 6m) and a back up for Cabaye (say Amalfitano WBA or Will Hughes). Those two players alone would have seen us ok. You'd only do it though if you were willing to roll the dice and attempt to push a bit higher. In Mike's world, there is not enough certainty in return to take that chance. I understand that, he is not interested in the glory, he's not in for love. Its about cold hard cash.
