http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/espns-30-30-soccer-stories-694728 Not airing in the UK for some reason, but it is on over here at 8PM on Tuesday. A great chance to show the people over here what a cover up this was and to reveal some home truths about this disaster to a global audience. It should be on Youtube or one of the other outlets like that after it airs so for those who are interested, you can probably catch it in about two weeks time. The 30 for 30 series is very good over here and another one I would recommend is the " Two Escobars" about the death of the Columbian player Andres Escober after the 1994 world cup and Once brothers about the split of Yugoslavia and sports. Here is a glimpse of how the production is normally done for those maybe skeptical. I have watched a lot of them 30 for 30s and some of them are very good. The one about the rugby world cup in South Africa in 95 was really good, the 16th man its called. I'll watch that one about Hillsborough when it comes out, I think they will do a good job on explaining the full story.
Must watch.... All I have to say. f**k sake. It is must see. How can you have a cover up like that when people lived through it and even some of the police recognize the bullshit!!!!!
Anyone got any idea where it is to watch by any chance? Also, can't believe some people on other boards saying it was our own fault and were to blame. Fuming. How can this STILL be believed by some after the HIP and what went before ffs!? Even Southampton fans are at it on their board! Southampton! Were not exactly their old, hated rivals is it?!
I've watched the Two Escobars as I think it was on Netflix - Maybe the Hillsborough one isn't being allowed to be shown due to all the bullshit. Plus it may be to raw for some people to watch over here (not sure how much detail 30 and 30 have included?) I'd like to see it though, as the 30 for 30's are usually decent. I'm sure it'll be leaked soon enough, even if it's not being officially shown.
there is an ongoing court case, and i think while that is happening nothing is allowed to be shown or said that can influence any decision either way. ie any media in general whether its written or verbal.
Yeah thats right - That's what I meant by 'all this bullshit'. Probably not explained in the best manner but oh well!
Ya, at the end they mentioned that another inquest was going on. It was brilliant Sky, really good. Just give it some time ( a few weeks) and it will be on Youtube, or any of those links to watch film and shows. It went pretty in depth. First hour the disaster itself, all the warning signs, all the behind the scenes problems with that **** Dunkenfield, testimonies from people who were there, police who were there, etc. One shot got me good man, it is probably a few minutes after that last wave that probably dealt the final blow and there is a bit of an overhead shot, the people in the front looked like crumbled paper, it was tough, very very tough. Second hour is how they went about the cover up, the alcohol stuff, the ****ing coroner ****, how one guy came in and said it was the fault of safety and health regulations and then they overturned him( Shows how we were allotted 44% of the tickets but 28% of turnstiles and that we did not really have way way over the number mark but the way we were funnelled), the pens and the gates on the side to block moving sideways, etc. Then that paul smith **** and how they got one over him. The one lad who wrote THE TRUTH-Hillsborough is a big big part of the documentary.
Anyone who wants to watch it can watch it here. Middle of the page, two parts. http://www.footballorgin.com/2014/04/espn-30-for-30-films-hillsborough.html
Also of note, Daniel Gordon who directed it is a Wednesday supporter and was meant to have tickets to that game but somehow missed out ( he was on a radio show the other day). So he is also involved in a way with it all and remembers it vividly. He tried to get this done on the 20th anniversery but was shot down in the UK but was able to get it done for the 25th over here.
Yeah fair play to him, its well made and he did a good job of telling the whole story. The scumbag police got hit hard in it and rightly so, the way some of them acted that day is really shocking considering they are supposed to be there to protect people, pigs with blood on their hands.
