i think that they would break the prem rule on increase in wages so you'd have to add ferdinand and vidic wages at least together to get this one guy let alone.... rooney....
Chance too see what Diame can do against Arsenal tonight, been Weat Hams best player in the opening 10 minutes. For the right price he could end up a bargain.
Barkley is not worth £38m and Everton would never sell to us if they were actually going to sell for that. They'd leak that a bid has been made and invite offers from other clubs (Chelsea, City, United) in the hope they can get a similar amount and not sell to a local rival.
No thanks. He'll be 29 at the start of next season, probably on close to 100k and never seems to last 90 minutes (fitness?). Add to the fact that our forward line is based on lightning quick breaks then I don't think he'd suit that style of play particularly well at the moment. 3 or 4 years ago I would have certainly taken him from Bayern as you don't become the youngest player to 100 caps for Germany as well as one of their top scorer if you're ****, but time has passed on that one.
Have we discussed Kono saying he'd talked to Rodgers and was supporting Liverpool in the run in? Would be nice having a decent option from the bench instead of Moses next season.
£38m for Barkley - thanks but no thanks. Far too much for just potential IMO. Good player, will develop into a cracking player but we can find players of the same ability but for a fraction of the price. Lucas Digne is a serious talent and I would love for us to go for him. Better than Shaw IMO but I haven't seen much of Digne since he moved to PSG. Mo Diame is a just another midfield donkey. Plays with no intelligence, just runs in straight lines and bulldozes anyone who gets in his way. Just imagine a very very very poor version of Yaya Toure. Would definitely want Kono - For about £10, he would represent great value. Oli Kay from The Times said that we were interested in Toni Kroos - but for the stupid wages he's demanding, I rather pass.
I think it was over £200k a week. Not sure if it;s true but a few people have reported the same. Gundogan has just signed a new contract at Dortmund - which leads me to believe he could be on his way out soon ...
Yep, I think it's ridiculous. This season, we have shown how we can build an exciting squad without having to throw stupid money. There's no reason why we can't keep doing this. P.S I'm not saying that we shouldnt be spending more but I think there is a level/boundary that we must keep to. £260k a week is for PSG, Man City etc. The only time we should be paying that much is when a player has been with us for a while and earnt it i.e. Suarez.
Mateo Kovacic has come out and denied a rift between himself and Walter Mazzarri. Hopefully we put in a bid in for him - could be another Coutinho-esque deal.
Spending money doesn't guarantee success but it can make it easier to achieve. I'm glad we have our principles and stick to them. sure, its annoying when we miss out on a target but I've always maintained we should want players that want to play for the Liverbird, not the pay cheque.
