Since promotion was confirmed we are (rather irritatingly tbh) being linked with different players every day ... today it is apparently The Sun saying we are preparing a bid for Ross McCormack. Now one thing that has become apparent under Nigel Pearson's tenure is that any transfer rumours tend to be just that, rumours. Invariably we only hear about deals as the paerwork is actually drying - so I doubt there is anything in this, at least at this stage - but McCormack, at least statistically has had an excellent season from a goal scoring perspective, playing in what, with all due respect, appears to be something of a Jekyll and Hyde side. I've only really seen him against us (in which he has always been decent) and highlights of his goals etc - so out of genuine interest, how do you rate him? ... would he cut it in the Prem do you think? ... I'm old enough to remmber some very good Leeds United forwards, from the likes of Mick Jones and Alan Clarrke through to Tony Yeboa and Mark Viduka - how does McCormack compare?
He dives better than Tom Daley and refs are now wise to him. If i am honest I think this season was a bit of a flash in the pan and I am not convinced he would ever achieve the same success in this league again never mind in the prem. If we got a £4mill offer for him I would bite your hand off. I suspect I might be in the minority on the subject though. Enjoy your year of being whipping boys, we will be passing you next year. ;-)
I think his level is the Championship really but in fairness his goals have been key to anything Leeds do really and if he get's a chance to play in the PL then can't deny him that if Pearson wants him as part of his plans.
You never know ... although I have to say that I'm more optimistic this time around than I have been anytime other than in the Martin O'Neil days - unlike the last time under Mickey adams when the strategy seemed to focus on ageing players from Prem squads (who were largely not first teamers at their source clubs) etc we are going up with a squad where the majority are still developing young players with more flair and ability than I've seen at our club since the Jimmy Bloomfield era in the early 70s ... they will be even better next season althogh the challenge will, admittedly, be far tougher ... ... it's an exciting time to be a Leicester fan ...
We won't be passing you for two reasons!!!! We are not going down next year and you won't be coming back up. And before mighty starts you are going down this season. If not I will cartwheel all the way to CBL and pick up the SBA naked.
You,ve said that so far to Norwich Palace Southampton QPR Swansea Cardiff Blackpool Vermin Hull Now its Leicesters turn Say it to Barnsley this year cos theres a good chance youll get that one right GFH said promotion in 2 years Warnock said promotion in 1 year Now Cellino says promotion in 2 years Listen to MIGHTY you wont get to the prem for at least another 20 years i told you 30 ten years ago
Err no I haven't. But perhaps you could tell fosse how this whipping boy stuff feels from your experiences this year.
Ross is a class act. In a struggling team, he still managed to date almost 30 goals. He has the potential to score at least 20 in a PL team playing decent footy. As such, you'll need to start your bidding at around £8m.
As I mentioned above - 'leaked' rumours of our tranfer targets seem to dissipate like beer farts ... sometimes takes a while but eventually drifts away on the breeze ... Pearson definitely prefers to unearth previously unknown gems ... so I'd be rather surprised to see this turn into anything ...
Spot on and whatever we get for him, there is no guarantee well be able to get a replacement as good for same money
He should be on at least 40 goals this season, with the sitters, penalties and one-on-ones he has squandered. And with his head being down so much over the last few weeks, I think Cellino will be happy to cash in on a bid of £4m to £5m now, whereas in January he was not.
One season wonder this season, can't see him ever getting anywhere near 30 goals again but credit to him his goals have kept us up this season. If we won promotion I would be hoping we signed a better striker, not good enough to make an impact in the PL in my opinion and I would say an offer of £6m and I would be happy Useless at times when one on one and he has too much time to think about it.
Football is all about buying and selling players Eire. I have been one of Rossco's biggest fans, and I couldn't believe he rarely got into the team under the last two managers, but he seems to have lost some of his heart for LUFC now. The last few months have drained him. I think he is looking for a move, and got the captaincy as a reward for not leaving in Jan. If he gets the chance for a Prem team, let him go. Get some good money, because there is always another striker coming through or loanable or purchaseable. Can't believe we never went for Macheda and he ended up at Donny (I think) to tell you the truth.
We, as Leeds fans are used to loosing players - our best players. I think people kid themselves into thinking it won't be so bad without them. Imagine Real Madrid fans saying well Ronaldo could have scored 80 goals last season had he put away the sitters, sell him! Not that I'm comparing the two as players, because we all know Ross is better.
