Sell your best players to fund massive wages for your worst players

They've always been amongst the highest in wages... probably why they always spend less in the transfer window.

  9. We won't suddenly start paying more from one CL season

We should immediately put Suarez on a watertight £300k, Studge on £150K (yes, I know he's been dire for a few games) and Stirling and Hendo on £100k. Coutinho too. Be more than covered by increased revenue and merchandising IF we win the league, never mind just getting in the CL.

£26m seems a lot - I wouldn't take Daily Mail as Gospel but I do think we have made serious reductions in our wage bill - credit to FSG and the manager for making difficult decisions in letting players go.

Will be surprised if Agger, Reina and Johnson are still here next season and that will save another £300k a week.

I'm still wondering where this 26million number has come from as I can't find any reference to total wage bill in the article, it just lists the average salary.

  17. I don't know but I guess it would be easy enough to work out. The article tells us the averages so all you need is squad numbers. If you guys have ten more squad players than us then it would make a big difference for example.

Yeh that's what I was thinking, how many players are taken per team? Just the first team? Reserve and youths as well? What are the differences in the squad sizes?

Feels like a lot more info is needed to do a proper analysis.

  19. Can't see it including all the youth teams when they average is £3.4m/£3.9m per annum for our teams. Thats £65k/£75k per week.

You find the average weekly salary of the First team, and multiply this by 52.14 weeks to find yearly difference.
