A few short months ago,we changed our manager, and Palace changed their's.At the time, there was a good debate on our board about who was right.A lot of people were saying that they didn't want to play the Pulis way!!If only!!!The Pulis way has kept Palace in the Premier League, and we are in a struggle to survive.Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but Iwould have settled for a boring finish to the season rather than a cup-final defeat and relegation, which could kill our club off!
But you speak of hindsight as he was a better option, but we'll never know. I personally don't think Fergie himself could keep this shower of **** up.
Ifs buts maybies. Pulis is very good at getting the basics right and getting his teams motivated and organised. If we did the basic of having a man on the back post from corners I think we'd have half a dozen more points on the board just from that alone. I do think he'd have kept us up, but then hed be hounded out by the boo boys half way through next season because of the style of play.
Sunderland fans aren't bothered about the style of play pal. it's all about winning games in many fans eyes.
Palace players didn't have the balls at the start of the season so you have to give Pulis credit for that like. The Italian wannabe Palace fans have be class this season.
Pulis would have struggled to keep us up because our players are brain dead Also you don't get very far playing the style he does, so while short term their appointment was better, long-term ours will be better (if Poyet stays that is)
Pulis is a terrific coach if you want basic and organised teams. A bit like Allardyce in that he'll get results but it won't be pretty. I've personally enjoyed watching our team learn and develop a very attractive style under Gus and although I'm gutted we look like going down, I'm keen to stick with him and have this style embedded in the whole club. We'll get better at it as time goes by and the relegation allows unsuited players to leave and Gus can coach/sign players to play his way. It's hard to say but I think I'd rather have a short spell out of the prem to come back playing this style effectively, than have stayed up (possibly!) playing Pulis football. Baz, I accept your point that most fans will want results regardless of style, I'm just not one of them.
Fair enough but most sunderland fans do not give a **** about style. just remember one thing, poyet style couldn't get out of the Championship.
Baz I think it will take time. I'm not expecting to come straight up and I won't see that as a big problem. What would be a huge problem would be Poyet going and starting again
I don't think we have the players pulis could deal with, he like big strong players and we don't have them. I think Gus has us trying to play football but sadly our players play it too slowly. Just get this season over with clear out those on big wages who massively under perform and I look forward to next season whatever division we are in.
I think Short will be expecting to come straight back up tho. If Poyet stays his going to be starting again anyway so I don't see if being a huge problem if poyet left pal.
Look at our players, as a team they have no particular strengths we could play to. Just **** business in the transfer market.
No I don't think he'll be starting again. He's definitely made progress with this group of players and although lots will leave, there'll still be 15 or so who will stay, who know his ways, which doesn't constitute starting again IMO. Another big problem Baz if he left is who could we get? I'd be astonished if we could attract someone superior.
If Pulis was our manager then I think he would of played players like Diakite & he would of recalled N'Diaye instead of buying small ass Bridcock.
We just have to wait & see pal. if Sam Allardyce leaves West hame maybe go for him. he will defo get us back to the prem & easy keep us midtable.
Good shouts both of those, Diakite is far superior to the **** we have CB, and Bridcutt is lost at this level.
