I wonder if the reason why we went out of the FA cup was a directive from the Board rather than Monk's team selection ?. Instructions from above to concentrate on the League rather than potentially have additional games if we had progressed beyond Everton, the team selection for that game wasn't made up of the strongest squad players available was it .
For those interested, we've created a YouTube video which discusses which teams we think will go down. That section of the video is towards the end You can find the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzE9o863dak There's also a free MP3 download for those who'd rather that format: https://www.downtimeguys.bandcamp.com/track/footy-talk-episode-10 Hope you enjoy!
The reason we are struggling now is due to dropping points at home (west ham, Stoke, Hull with laudrup) (Palace, west brom with Monk).
Cwm, I try to treat all posters with respect because everyone is entitled to an opinion. I'm totally against bullying but have no objection to "lively" debate. As it happens, I was absolutely opposed to Monk's appointment for a number of reasons, which I have stated elsewhere. Others, of course, have different opinions and I am happy to accept that. We all have them and we're all entitled to state them but I don't see the need to resort to name calling, sarcasm or making condescending remarks just because someone else holds a different view. This is NOT a school playground. I assume we are all adults, therefore capable of posting views without resorting to any of the above. I get as frustrated and exasperated as the next man when I read some posts but they are just expressions of opinion. I happen to believe that my opinions are right but, naturally, other people believe theirs are as well.... and why not? That's the way of things. I hope, though, that you do continue to post because you seem to be a reasonable "voice" on here.
Fair point, Nottage and, when I look back at those games, I see the following under Laudrup:- West Ham - robbed of 2 points when we were refused a nailed on penalty for a Joe Cole handball. Stoke - robbed of 2 points by an idiot referee (penalty) after a brilliant come back from 0-2 down. Hull - robbed of 2 points courtesy of a precision Williams pass to a Hull player who set up their goal. Under Monk:- Palace - lucky to get one point after a rank second half performance. WBA:- deserved to get nothing after a rank second half performance. Just saying.....
Have to admit Ivor that the Laudrup v Monk debates have been first class and haven't required any modding whatsoever.
With all due respect, the REAL reason we are struggling is that the team/squad are simply not good enough.
Well stated Stumpy, can't disagree with anything you have said here, insightful post to say the least, I've highlighted my favourite bits!....................
"Laudrup disrespected Bony (not his signing, Aspass was his prime target)"!! Not his signing!! You'll have to watch what you're saying, some on here just won't have that....
The bottom line is that The Swans' have slipped down the League, and are just 3 points off the relegation zone. This has happened on Garry Monk's watch, not Michael Laudrup's. Now some will say that it would have been worse had Laudrup not been sacked. Well, that would be speculation, and not a reality.
I don't know how many times I have to say this guys, but we are not going down, got it!..........................
What are you drinking Vetch? We were just 2 points clear of the drop zone, when Laudrup was sacked, we are now 3 points above the drop zone, got it? Hope it helps........................
Ivor and roof jack thanks for your posts. Posting and red wine I have decided are not a good mix as they tend to make me less tolerant and more argumentative. Quiet night tonight!
Knew something was up , so out of character for one of the best , and missed posters on here . Gotta say though , hope you keep a bit of that edge ...... I'm rethinking some of my thoughts , Laudrup is gone and we still have a team to support instead of supporting our own agendas ...... Ill try to work on that a bit , heard you loud and clear sir
Oh I don't know about that, I have enjoyed it a good few times on here with a bottle or two, a very merry time was had by all, but mostly by me!................
I have to change my final 3 for the drop after Moyes sacking, Norwich will not get a result at Old Trafford now, so looking more like Sunderland, Cardiff, and Norwich for the drop!............
