We need to sack Monk now and put Curt in charge, since Monk has taken over we look unable to hold a lead and win a game. I dont buy into the claptrap that we are playing better, if that was the case we would be winning games. The sooner people realise that Monk is a backstabber who is only interested in furthering his own career the better. As Ive always said, poor defender who lacked tactical nous on the field, now a poor manager who lacks technical nous from the bench. I'm not being drawn into the Laudrup debate again or listen to stick given to someone who secured our first trophy and highest league position. He's gone, fact. Monk should also go, opinion. Monk is quite capable of leading this team to failure in not securing another win and so relegation would be inevitable.
I'd like to see that spreadsheet Yankee. We've scored more goals and more goals from set pieces under Monk.
Not going to talk about Laudrup Valley, just to say we were far further up the league when he was in charge, we have been in freefall since he left.
Not now , our fate is the next 4 games and another change now would kill any momentum we have , we haven't yet seen a consistency in our play yet and if a similar performance aka Hull is seen at Newcastle then we as supporters have to raise the roof at home where there was a glimmer of hope shown by the players reaction to the crowds' support .A simplistic view maybe but any hope is better than none.
Need to raise the roof against Villa & Southampton to get the points we need. Plus I won't be a happy chappie, if we don't get anything off Southampton.
If he was so poor why did Martinez and Rodgers make him and keep him as Captain? Not forgetting his 90 million pound block in the Play Off final. Short memories some people have.
We're not discussing his playing ability ,it's his percieved lack of managerial and coaching talents .
Matthew both Valley and Gendros have questioned his playing ability on this very page. Obviously Gendros being a better judge than RM and BR about a players ability should be listened to. Indeed BR let him play in the Play Off final despite being injured and having pain killing injections. I'm not saying he was Bobby Moore but please let's nots vilify him because it suits the current argument!
Oh dear, oh dear, another inconsequential Laudrup groupie Yankee boy? he didn't ? what makes you say that or did you just make it up? By the way old boy I said banished not ban, try reading and let me know where this gem came from as you seem to have your finger on the pulse of the boardroom. Where are these numbers?, go whip them out there's a good boy. While your at it, try look up the number of games Bony has played under each manager. That should be in that vast spreadsheet of yours. Numerical facts can be added in any context to improve any point being made but trying applying some statistical analysis and you'll see they mean NOTHING out of context. So, again Yankee, how many goals in how many games? I know your far away so there may be some lag but really, do you actually believe that Bony played better under Laudrup than he does now under under Monk? or that he was happier under Laudrup than he is now under Monk? Another gem, I did laugh so. Please elaborate, I'd like another laugh. Give us more of your so solid opinions, they are hysterical but do try not to be so vaguely unaware. Doh! He and many others are on record as saying that training has improved under Monk, so what's your point Yankee? Anyway I await your response eagerly Yankee, and I promise to keep my shovel dry until then. Have a nice day now ya'll PS I still think Sunderlan Norwich and one from Fulham, WBA and Cardiff to go with them, any opinion on this Yankee boy
JackCwm Totally agree JC. Can't believe the short memories some have. I don't recall Monk ever letting us down even in the prem. Forgive the philistines JC, they know not what they do.
Hey Jack, can you point me to the post questioning Monks playing ability, I've spent weeks defending him from the stick gendros has given him.
Monk was more than a decent back up in the premiership. Shame he was a few years to old, a Monk 3 years younger would do okay at PL level.
Dont let the name fool you yankee , he dont have a leg to stand on and personally , I have nothing but for respect for Monk.
Valley a thousand apologies I have misread the posts Gendros's posting was copied under a comment you made. Very sorry my mistake completely.
Why don't you try replying without all the snide condescension and name calling? Did Yankee's post strike a nerve or what? His post was pointed but he didn't resort to that, so why did you feel the need to?
Ivor If you support GM on this site then it seems your fair game for abuse. I hope you will correct all the posters who call people "morons" for having different views or or are you just interested in correcting the people who have a different view from yourself. There is a bullying clique on this board who like talking to each other but slaughter any outsider. I didn't't post here for 3 years and to be honest will soon be off again.
Jack, the defence under Martinez was one of the worst in the league, one of the main reasons we didnt kick on. Monk was picked because he was Martinez's mate and because we had little funds to replace him. Under Rodgers he was dropped in a period prior to the play-off and Tate rightly kept him out until he bitched and got himself back in the team. When we had the chance to get a centre half, Caulker, he was dropped captain or no. To say he never let us down is a joke, he had no pace, couldnt head the ball and his positional play was shocking. Teams used to love a set piece because we simply could not defend it. Monk was always the one who went running to Huw to put the knife in. He took a lot of stick from Sousa because he was poor and then put the knife in him. He did the same to Laudrup. If there is a split in the dressing room its down to him and has been for a while. He was an ok div 1 defender, certainly dont remember any teams beating the door down to get him. As a manager, he is obviously struggling. Monk has cost us at least 5 points, Palace and West Brom and got us out of the FA cup and the Europa, through poor tactics and substitutions. Monk could easily take us out of this league by not winning another game, I hope Im wrong. If we rely on Monk to build a team this summer, we will be relegated from whatever league we are in. We have been in freefall since he took over lets hope we dont fall through the trapdoor.
