I said it was not a booking because contact was made as a ref can never tell how much contact there was and therefor has doubt and if he has doubt he can't pull out the card.

same with Kompany's foul on suarez, ref had doubts as he could not see through Kompany, no peno

 

If he dived then it's a booking, there's no argument, the end.

What is sad is you are taking my point of view and applying it to the situation as fact, I said I think he dived and so you say he should've categorically got a yellow.
unfortunately the laws of the game are different. If the ref sees contact he is not gonna book the player for diving.

It happened really fast, Saurez felt minimal contact and went down, as do so many players week in week out, milner dived at the other end 5 minutes later but no one says ****, why, Flanno brushed him, minimal contact, fall over, Barkley does it a bit too, yet he gets spared your impotent rage

I suppose you are now going to tell me how Clutterbug knew the level of contact, in real time can you explain how he can tell that? He showed no lack of bottle sending Henderson off. Clutterbug had a decent game which is not something I say often. He was right by the rules not to give a peno for Kompany's foul, not just not booking Suarez.

What I think doesn't matter, doesn't matter what you think, there is no confusion, it was not a yellow, if you watch the replay, you can clearly see the ref doesn't book Suarez.

IF the defender never clipped Suarez I'd say a booking yes, but even I can't tell from that replay how much contact there was, I can suspect, you can suspect but it's all speculation, and the fact you can't just admit that is so full of fail

 

You said it was a dive, therefore Clattenberg got it wrong in your opinion and all you've been doing here is looking to excuse his incompetence.

Re diving etc. Don't like players who go down easy (we all have them). However, what I hate & despise (and again, we all have them), is those who exaggerate the situation by flying through the air, rolling 16 times when they hit the deck and clutch a part of their body in the hope that it wont fall off because it's been totally brutalised by the opposing player who breathed on them a little heavy. Also despise the fraudulent no-contact-dive and the "oops, my trailing leg accidentally clipped the shoelace of someone, so I'd better leap & dive into the box" (we - Chelsea - got a last minute penalty against West Brom for one of those!).

These individuals are, unfortunately, some of the better quality skilled players (Suarez, Drogba, the whole of the Barca team excluding Messi, etc. etc.), which for me makes it even worse. My lad (who has just turned 12), plays footie each week and regularly comes up against young kids who do the same. Bloody pathetic really.

For me, if a post match assessment of a game can demonstrate such horrible behaviour, their should be retrospective action. I would penalise the faker to the tune of x2 what the other person was given, assuming it resulted in a card. Failing that, a fine.

Whether it was a dive or not isn't important, Clattenburg clearly thought it was and therefore he should have sent Suarez off. It wasn't the only mistake he made yesterday either, both teams could have had at least two penalties. Incompetent as they come

All of the penalty appeals were contentious apart from Skrtels basketball shot, which was a stonewaller imo.

 

the foul on Sturridge was a stone wall penalty too. As was Skrtel man handling two Man City players at once and Kompany cuddling Suarez although you could argue that there is consistency within those two.

 

Avoid defeat v Chelsea and its Liverpools title.

Why don't they just end the season now and give Gerrard his Premier league medal now that 'he deserves' because it is the anniversary of Hillsborough and give Bayern the CL too.

 

The only potential plus point about them winning yesterday, is it'll be all the more funnier if they manage to throw it away, particularly with the way Gerrard was getting all emotional as if they've got it in the bag. There are still 4 games to go, and with Mourinho and Chelsea taking the bus up there, a game the scousers need to win, to keep the race in there own hands. The job is along way from being done.

City I am convinced will win all there remaining games. They didn't play that badly yesterday, and where unlucky to lose, with the way they played in the 2nd half

 

Gerrard's cousin was the youngest to die at Hillsborough aged 12 years old, John Paul's family were at the game with the Gerrard's, very emotional day considering the anniversary and the new inquests.

Just saying it might have played a part in his evident emotion yesterday.

If we draw at the chavs and manage to win the others and City win all their games they'll win the league by a point. We can't afford to drop any points which is why it is a big ask, not impossible but it's gonna take some doing
