This Arsenal team lacks pace, a winning mentality, and tactics. One of these can be fixed with the purchase of players, two are imparted by the manager.
The lack of pace can be laid at the door of the manager as well, as he decides who we buy. If we don't change the manager, the third problem will continue due to Wenger's penchant for slow pygmies.
Not sure, how we managed to become this ****ing slow. Even in the trophy-less years, we still had some pace. The Walcott injury does not help, neither does Giroud. Rosicky seems to be getting slower, and Arteta is painfully slow. Cazorla is quick over a few yards, but does not have a great acceleration, same with Podolski.
That's basically what this thread is. Still less than Benitez spent on the likes of Josemi, Antonio Barragan, Ryan Babel, Kronkamp, Riera, Andrea Dossena etc..
Drmic is back on apparently. DOnt regard the source as the most reliable but he would be a good signing as a second striker to replace Bendtner. THe new WC striker we all want, Drmic and Joel Campbell would be a huge step up from what we have this season. http://www.givemesport.com/452980-arsenal-tipped-to-sign-drmic-for-8m
The three players I'd like to see us sign this summer are Draxler Lars Bender Manduzkic All three are realistic targets, Draxler was making very encouraging noises about joining Arsenal and some kind of pre-agreement might already be in place. We've bid for Lars Bender before and it would be a step up from Leverkusen. With Lewandowski moving to Bayern, Mandzukic will be wanting first team football and he'd be guaranteed a starting place at Arsenal.
5th could make it much harder to get them, but honestly the thing that would really throw a spanner in the works is if Wenger left at the end of the season. As much as some people want to throw caution to the wind, unless we have somebody lined up who's better, then these players are not going to want to take the risk that some of our more negative fans seem happy to do.
I actually think if we finish 5th then we might be better off with Wenger staying, no half decent player will join a new manager with no champions league, not for normal wages at least
Wenger won't leave without someone lined up to replace him. He's not just going to up and wander off.
Shame we never actually made a bid for Higuain. He has just scored a Hatrick for Napoli which brings him up to 24 goals in 44 apps for the club. His whole career in Argentina, Spain and now Italy the guy has managed a better than 1 in 2 goal ratio. He would have been a very smart signing. I never understand why we are soo timid in these situations.
Yes just think how the season may have been if you'd signed him rather than make that ridiculous bid for a certain Liverpool F.C. striker!!
