chesh, it's just that opinions seem to get clouded ... really clouded, and objectivity goes out the window ... this board was usually filled with good debate but it has gone downhill rapidly in recent months ... just want to go back to talking football and fcuk off the field, Cellino is god now and he will do as he pleases, regardless of what we think and say ... ask Cagliari fans, he stopped season ticket sales one season and trebled ticket prices, because he can

You sure about the trebled prices bit,how I read it He said he made them pay 3 times as much meaning not reduced prices as in season ticket but pay game by game.He also said he has given the entrance fee back after a bad performance.[next season could be free <laugh>] if we play like this season. You have to remember he has spent 20 odd years trying to get a new ground built and even got a few days in prison over it.To come out of prison and then have fans slagging him off I can understand him reacting badly. That's my opinion and take on what happened but I don't know all the facts and don't know any that do.

He also said He refused to sell season tickets for Leeds in feb, because of all the uncertainty[league 1 or no club]while the Arabs wanted to sell season tickets knowing we may end up in admin.<applause>to Cellino for that.

Lads, lets adopt a wait and see policy. Many jumped on the gfh bandwagon in their support of a couple of token gestures. Turned out to be completely unfounded. Our setup is a million miles from Italy and what he has had to do or not do there. He starts with a clean slate as far as Im concerned and every time he takes out his wallet, is a welcome bonus from previous pretend owners

I suggest a year ago Liverpool would not have been mentioned in that list.

For the last time ... I welcome Cellino, and I am very pleased he has bought our great club ... the point of the thread was that I was surprised that a fanatical Leeds fan I know, who is Italian, has seen fit to denounce our new owner ... it is clear not everyone welcomes him with open arms as I do, but hopefully over time Cellino's actions will win over those who remain unsure or who simply don't want him ... yes, I understand Italian folk looking at his running of Cagliari and using that as a yardstick, but I really believe he will have a different attitude at Leeds, especially with what he could achieve in the Prem and all the money that's there

Fair point Josh. Apart from Suarez, who else have Liverpool bought in the last 2 seasons for anything approaching silly money? Their success just shows what you can do with a decent side run by a class manager.

Good call all round Billy. Actions will speak louder than words. But I have a sneaking suspicion that next season we will see significant investment on the playing side, with potentially a few imports from Italy to add a bit of finesse and class to the team, a lot of dead wood leaving, and for us to be nailed on certainties for top 6 with an fighting chance of autos.

Song of the day: Let the good times roll

They really are the exception to the rule though. Remember they were very close to losing Suarez in the summer. Had he gone Liverpool wouldn't have even been in contention this season. They still haven't won anything yet. There opposition is all made up from billionaires playthings

    I must be slipping.
A major outburst of handbags and neither I nor Elmo were involved.
Chesh and BS bloody trouble makers.

The sooner we get to only talking about footie, beer and Elland the better.

Just to pick up on Liverpool ... the key has been that Rodgers has been fully supported by the board ... the players he didn't want, like the £36m misfit Carroll, were let go, and Rodgers was allowed to do his thing, starting with retaining Suarez ... remember this, Rodgers was sacked after six months at Reading, yes, just six months, what a blunder ... at Swansea he was always in the shadow of one R.Martinez and people said he was lucky to have inherited that team ... his start at Liverpool was not great, losing in the FA Cup to Oldham (thanks to Leeds legend Matt Smith), and only finishing 7th in the Prem ... it was a struggle and people were calling for his head, but the Liverpool board stuck with him, gave him a fresh start in the summer and look at them now ... continuity and stability is the absolute key, and Liverpool are now reaping the rewards ... they are guaranteed of Chumps Lge football next season and the riches that come with it, and they will be in a position to add even more quality to their squad because of it ... now, how nice it will be if Leeds are pulling up trees in a similar fashion in the not too distant future!

Bit like saying you can always trust the English, like Ridsdale, Bates and Haigh.
Think I'd rather trust the Italians thanks very much <ok>

    Why?

    Luis Suarez, £22.8m
    Mamadou Sakho £15.0m
    Sturridge £12.0m
    Andy Carroll £35m

Just the first 4 I looked for in regards to fee's paid.

Anyone would think McDermott had only been in charge a few months, he had the back end of last season, the whole summer to prepare and he has had this season. If the board hadn't kept Ross then we would have been relegated this season. McD has been backed more than any other manager at Leeds in the last 10 years. Name any Leeds manager who wasn't forced to sell at least one player, since Mcd took control we have had not sold a single player and at last count we had brought 9 in.

Liverpool need to do it this season because if they don't it could easily be another 10 years before they do it again, the whole team is just ticking at the moment, it reminds me of us last time we won the big prize, it was just the right team and manager around at the right moment in time. I am not saying it isn't deserved but IF they hang on and win it this season I can't see it being repeated next.

Cellino will do just this <ok>

He will bring in cheap players mainly italian,he will choose, he will not spend tons of dosh like many think he will, and if an offer comes in for a player and it earns a profit he will sell, He will have major input with the manager or coach what ever you wanna call it and when things start going wrong he will sack them, I cant see him going for english managers cos they tend to want long contracts, which never reach their time, I think he will buy ER because thats an asset. But before you all fall out over whats gonna happen i suggest you just wait and see because none of us know really how he is going to approach this.

    viva italia

he may surprise us all <ok>

doubt it but you never know <laugh>

    Not a bad post Mighty.

I am ok with Cellino buying ER for the club, not drawing money out of the club and operating it on its own revenue.

If that happens, let's see how we make out.

Ristac, you keep banging on about this & it's the same old, same old. You just haven't listened to a very, very specific point about the selling of players. Let me simplify it for you. You are a manager & you have 10 great players. The board sell one of them. This means you still have one great player. This continues, like the song '10 green bottles', until you only have 2 great players and the board sell one of them, leaving you one great player. I know I've exaggerated the point ('cos I REALLY feel I have to), but tell me this - can you possibly compare the manager with 10 great players to the manager with only 1 great player? Answers on a postcard!

Oh, and before I forget, the board most certainly wanted to sell Rosco. Cellino stopped them. Perhaps you've not been listening to the same interviews as me.
