Fair enough, if you think Suarez and Sturridge will score 49 goals and 18 assists between them inside 28 premier league games then good luck to you. Personally I think that's being a bit naive considering those stats against all previous premier league seasons - hardly unfounded. IMO the points and position you're in is based on a phenominally high number of goals and those goals have masked your suspect defence. If those stats were for the full 38 games and you won the league, I'd actually feel more confident about your position next season, because it's very likely you would have accumulated those points based on a decent attack (lower rate but far more repeatable) AND a good defence. Basically, unless you improve that defence in the summer, with the commitments in the CL and domestic cups, I don't think you'll be able to repeat what you have this season.
They have scored 49 and 18 assists in 28 games though, they both missed 5 games I think, I guess you meant 38 games? yet they have done it in 28 games
No denying they've had an incredible season, that's not even over yet - so that stat will improve. I can't see them replicating it to be honest (but you never know), but I do see them both being 20+ strikers as long as they play together at Liverpool. Saying that if we strengthen in the summer, then they'll have even more quality to feed off that could see them replicate it, or even beat it!!
Agree with this... it's bad logic that anyone deserves to win anything. Exceptional players like Gerrard are close to 'deserving' it but you still can't really say that.
Gerrard deserves nothing and whule suarez may hit 20 goals a season I dont think sturridge will. Thats why I would give sturridge poty. Hes surpassed his level and played beyond his ability. He wont get the chance again. Suarez will. Gerrard deserves nothing. Hes one player who doeant deaerve the title. Him and many others.
Sisu, yeh the reason why I said 49 inside 28 games is bcos they've done that this season and to have to score at that rate again next season is going to be very difficult (had it been 49 over 38 next season is achievable but then to pick up the same number of points will need less goals conceded). I guess I'm not explaining it very well, but Sky I think gets what I'm getting at. The only thing I disagree with him, is that I think where you need to strengthen is your defence. IMO Suarez and Sturridge will be prolific and win you games 3-0 or 4-0, but it's the games in which you're conceding 2 or 3 goals, like those against Cardiff, Swansea, Fulham, Stoke, Villa and then having to rely on goals from Suarez/Sturridge/Other to outscore them, is where I think you will come up short. That's why really you're better off winning games 1 or 2 nil with Suarez/Sturridge numbers being less impressive, but showing more stability and likelihood of being able to replicate it.
The ******ed scousers may well cheat their way to the title with the refs giving them all the decisions. But it will be great if they were still in contention until the last day only to see Gerrard crying like a toddler for missing that first title by a whisker
You haven't won that first title yet. Or in your mind - like most of the ******ed scousers you've done it already.
A point should be enough - I can't see City not dropping any points until the end of the season. It's going to the wire thats for sure. Plus people are forgetting we have to beat Norwich, Palace, and Newcastle - long way to go yet
