http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/louis-van-gaal-manchester-united-3402770 If this is true, i'm all for it, he's a good manager who knows how to win trophies and our players would respect him as well.
No, we don`t want a 62 year old, we could have a couple of more good seasons and then be in the same position again. We either stick with Moyes until January or go for the likes of Klopp, a good manager with a future in the game not a pension waiting.
Short term patch Matth (if it worked), if we change managers again it needs to be for someone with a long term future.
How do you know? Just because he has a track record as a winner doesn't mean he's gonna be popular with the Utd players. The players that have allegedly stabbed Moyes in the back and havent been arsed for most of the season are worse than Moyes, those players were asked to give their all for the new manager as were the supporters who have at least tried to follow Fergies wishes. How about Darren Ferguson, dad upstairs if there's a problem, Solksjaer and G Neville as backroom staff. Nailed on dream team.
I would love to see Garry Neville as part of the coaching team, his understanding of football is as good as i have seen, not sure about the management side of things though. What Solksjaer was good at would be difficult to teach, he was best when watching a game for 60 mins and seeing the spaces/weaknesses then exploitnig them, you either have it or you don`t.
I hope this isn't true, Moyes deserves atleast til January. There has definitely been some signs of improvement in recent games, which makes me hopeful Moyes can come good next season
Short term fixes are far more likely to than long term stratagies. United are the sole example in football that time works. We are the odd ones out. So 2 or 3 years under a coach who is well respected for building an ideology into clubs that has made them go onto to be the best around. Ajax, Barcelona and now bayern. Yet people think we should stick with moyes. Well ok.... Give me a single reason why it would be better to stick with moyes. Its like a choice between a house and a cardboard box.
Just because SAF was with us for so long, and was successful, doesn't now mean that this is the template for continued success. Experience has shown that what works for one, doesn't necessarily work for another. We have had SAF's time, but that time, that way of doing things has gone and we must adapt, rather than keep looking for the 'next SAF' - it simply won't happen. If future success is derived from the club changing manager every three seasons, so be it, but to keep trying to replicate the long-term success of SAF is bound to fail. Look carefully at any successful global enterprise (Apple, F1, Coke, McDonalds) and you will find that they will have identified exactly what it is about them that makes them successful - and they stick to that model. They may change senior management down the years, but fundementaly, albeit with slight adaptations and modifications, they stick to what their success was built on. We need a manager who can sustain that success by maintaining the standards and traditions of the club - but we don't need each one to stay in the job 26 years each time to achieve it. I would rather we bring in a new manager every 3 or4 years to keep everything fresh, to keep the squad refrshed with new blood and new energy.
I feel performances have improved lately, I thought we gave a good account of ourselves in the Bayern games, and we've scored 4 in our last 2 league games. Moyes has made a lot of mistakes this season, but there have been some signs recently that he's starting to understand our squad better, and what tactics work best with the players we have. I feel they should give him until January, so he can get rid of some of our old players, who are still pining for Fergie to come back, and bring in a few more of his own players, to go with the good young players we already have
We have played better but we raised our game for the games v bayern as it was the last chance saloon. All that I can see from moyes is hes been forced into making a few changes due to injuries. He hasnt changed anything by choice really. He will certainly revert to type once everyones fit again.
Maybe it was enforced changes UIR but he once said he had to pick RVP bcos he'd get criticised if he didn't. That reflected a man who lacked confidence and was afraid of making mistakes. IF he gets United playing well for the rest of season without the likes of RVP (and even Rooney) then in his own mind he will have the confidence (and can justify if needed) why he won't pick players others expect him to. In that sense, I do wonder if he sees those injuries as a blessing? Maybe he is now finally being given the opportunity to experiment and develop his managerial skills at a bigger club? We've played worse than we should have this season. But in the Bayern games, with the players and manager giving their all, that gave a realistic picture of the level this team are at, at the moment. So it's clearly not just all Moyes' fault.
So if he wins a few dead rubbers we should forget tge otger 33 games and give him a free pass? Why? Do you honestly believe moyes wont revert to type. Find me a single, sole example of him not doing this. Theres 15 years of his career to go back through for this one example. Ive got many, many examples of his reverting to type.... From just the past few months. Anyone who would keep moyes based on a defensive performance in which moyes made the wrong, stupid changes which aided in our surrender. Sure he couldn't have stopped evra but we offered nothing after going behind. We just needed a goal ffs. Moyes was forced into these changes, its happened before. Im sure you remember back in novemeber when several players were out injured and moyes was forced into playing a much changed side. We battered germanys 3rd best side 5-0. No rvp. Kagawa played, nani played etc etc. Next game he went right back to his ways. The sooner hes gone the better.
